My only beef with Santorum is his SPECIAL treatment of manufacturing over other businesses.
ZERO CORP. TAXES on manufacturers and 17.5% corp. taxes for the rest.
Now, we’ll have businesses scrambling all over each other to make themselves “manufacturers” of something.
Why not just make ONE LOW, COMPETITIVE, FLAT CORPORATE TAX FOR ALL WITHOUT FAVORING ONE SEGMENT OVER THE OTHER?
All manufacturers have a corporate level. As I understand it, he’s talking about eliminating a major cost of doing business which will be good for the corporate top.
The last factory I worked in was owned by a firm that didn’t do any actual manufacturing themselves but eliminating the tax on manufacturing would have been extremely beneficial to them at the corporate level.
