STUDY: Ron Paul Never Attacked Romney Once During 20 Debates, But Attacked Romney’s Rivals 39 Times
Escape Tyranny ^ | 02/27/2012 | Judd Legum

In recent days, attention has focused on the unusual relationship between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney, who are purportedly competing against each other for the Republican presidential nomination.

The New York Times reported recently that Romney has “worked to cultivate” a friendship with Paul. The candidates talk on the phone frequently. And when Paul’s “campaign jet broke down last year,” Romney “offered his jet to take them home to Texas.”

Rick Santorum has directly accused Paul and Romney of working together, noting “their commercials look a lot alike, and so do their attacks.” A review by ThinkProgress of the 20 GOP debates suggests Santorum might be onto something.

While Paul has freely attacked Romney’s top rivals, he has never once attacked Romney.

This is particularly striking given that Paul and Romney do not agree on virtually any policy positions. Paul has gone beyond merely refraining from attacks. He has actively defended Romney on some of his biggest vulnerabilities. For example, when Rick Perry attacked Romney for “Romneycare” during an October 18 debate, Paul interjected:

"First off, you know, the governor of Texas criticized the governor of Massachusetts for Romneycare, but he wrote a really fancy letter supporting Hillarycare. So we probably ought to ask him about that."

Maybe the 0-39 record is just coincidence.

This has the republican party leaderships fingerprints all over it.

Since they have anointed Rommeny, they are probably behind this strategy.

I have read that Paul dislikes Santorum.

Does anyone know why?

Funny part is, Romney has supported most if not all of what Ron Paul claims to oppose.

Very interesting. I had no idea. I guess Romney’s big treasure chest buys more than “organization”. If anything, Romney’s Big Government track record as Governor should have been the logical big target for supposed libertarian Paul. The fact that it wasn’t says a lot about the formerly unimpeachable Paul. It’s too bad because I actually like most of his libertarian positions.

I don’t think this strategy is as strange as many seem to think. Paul just figures that attacking Romney is a waste of time. Here is why.

Romney is the establishment candidate. Paul is anti-establishment. The act of attacking candidates is designed to weaken their support. For example, attacking Santorum as someone who is big government will cause his support from small government types to fade. Paul figures that his candidacy won’t ever get support from establishment Romney-type voters anyway.

He’s just trying to be as efficient as possible with his attacks, which is smart because he doesn’t have an unlimited amount of money to spend on ads.

RuPaul is a fraud on all levels. Where are all his nit wit supporters to defend the fact that this Truther loser is firmly in the Mittens camp?

Ron Paul and the Paulbots hate Reagan Conservatism, and Conservative-apparently more than the “establishment” (the very same crony-capitalism/banksters he purportedly is vehemently against)!!

I’ve been sending this to all my Paultard friends.

It makes their heads spin, seeing their idol revealed as a conniving sellout.

Their only tactic is #1 subject change, or #2 Paultard stump speech.

I’ve heard that little speech SO many times! My favorite reply: “Yes all that makes sense, but then RuPaul always announces Iran’s NOT seeking nukes, and that’s just clinically delusional.”

“It’s like you have cancer, so you go to the doctor. And the doctor explains in great detail how he’s gonna treat you with radiation and chemotherapy. And you feel confident he knows what he’s doing. Then you stand up and you’re about to leave the doctor’s office, when you overhear the doctor speaking to the “little green men” that live in his desk drawer about the mothership needing new fuel crystals for the voyage home.”

Efficient with his attacks? Then explain why their wive’s dine together and they both chat on the phone daily, why RuPaul is spending money on attack ads against Rick and Newt in states he isn’t even campaigning in and why Rand said that it would be a “honor” to be Milts VP? Come on. The truth is clear here. Paul and Romney have one big thing in common. They both hate conservatives. Paul is an absolute fraud and he has just been exposed as such.

Course the concept that this whole primary process is Kabuki Theater.. is possible..
The republican electorate being manipulated like pack animals..
You know ........ Donkeys.. Elephants..... same deal..

ALL polls are in fact propaganda.. guiding some/most like rats in a maze..
The Only archer hitting the target is Newt Gingrich...
Most of the rats are guided away from Newt..

Newt is blowing on the house of cards.. Republicans seem to HATE THAT..
The more Newt blows, most republicans suck...

Must be real entertainment to democrats..
