An Italian cruise ship with about 1,000 people on board is reported to be adrift off the coast of Seychelles.

The Italian coast guard said Monday the Costa Allegra is drifting in the Indian Ocean, between Madagascar and the Seychelles islands.

Officials say a fire on board caused the ship's engines to fail. There have been no reports of injuries.

Is the Captain still onboard or has he initiated the lifeboat ejection sequence?

No pictures of cute English cabaret dancers. This story is going nowhere.

The pirates are on their way.

In today's modern world, that statement needs clarification.....are you talking Somali pirates, OWS pirates, or government pirates? All take what they can and gve nothing back.

Do the slot machines still work and the bars stocked? I don’t see a problem here.

The vessel is operated by the same company that operated that Costa Concordia

I think I'd stay away from those guys, at least until they've jailed the current executives.

Also, frankly, those cruise ships look extremely top-heavy to me. Nice in calm weather, with all those portholes looking out, but I'd hate to be caught in a storm in one. Probably have a very wide, flat bottom, which is fine as long as you don't exceed the specs. Once it goes over, it won't come back up. I haven't seen the plans, but that high, fat, luxury look makes me very nervous.

I hope the Italian captain doesn't slip and fall into a lifeboat [an excuse that ranks at the very top of the absurdity scale in nautical history].

The ship is a little bit south of the main attack zone for Somali pirates - but too close for comfort. Personally, I wouldn’t go cruising in the Indian Ocean these days, at least not without a couple of M4’s, a few thousand rounds of ammo and maybe some RPG’s. Though I hear the Seychelles are absolutely beautiful...

The ships may look top heavy, but as long as the center of bouyancy is above the center of gravity, the thing is stable - the greater the distance, the better, of course.

Note to Obama...you’ll have to study around 100 years or so to understand these concepts - if ever.

First a ship runs aground in Italy, then passengers are robbed in Puerto Valletta, now this? Have the Muzzies also permeated the cruise business?
