CHARDON, Ohio (WSAZ) — Investigators have released the name of the suspect in a shooting at an Ohio high school Monday morning, along with the name of one of his victims.

WKYC in Cleveland reports that TJ (Thomas) Lane is the shooting suspect. He is accused of going into Chardon High School Monday morning and opening fire, shooting five of his fellow students.

One of the five victims has died. WKYC reports his name is Daniel Parmentour.

Parmentour’s family released a statement to WKYC that said, “We are shocked by this senseless tragedy. Danny was a bright young boy who had a bright future ahead of him. The family is torn by this loss. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

At this time, a 17-year-old male victim is in serious condition. An 18-year-old female victim is in stable condition. The names of the victims are not being released.

The victims were found in three separate locations at the school.

“Komertz said the alleged shooter was known as an outcast who had apparently been bullied.”

I, too was an outcast, not because I wanted to be, but because of my small size and a nasty rumor spread about me in junior high. I was bullied relentlessly throughout high school until about one month before graduation.

That’s when I broke the leg of one of my tormentors with a piece of chain. Everyone left me alone after that. I don’t think I snapped, I just finally got fed up.

I wish I had done it years before. I think the kid snapped from the bullying.

Who wasn't picked on when they were in school? Bullying and being picked on is a part of life for A LOT of middle school and high school kids but there aren't 1000's of shootings per year.
In my opinion it's the home life that builds these types of responses. If the boy had a stable and proper home life the 'picking-on' or 'bullying' that happened at school wouldn't have mattered as much because he and his parents would've been able to deal with it properly. Obviously the school admin never deals with it properly.
Kids will be kids but the one thing that has changed is that society has created a mass percentage of worthless non-families (single-parents, never home, never involved in their kids lives, no religion, rather be kids best friend instead of parent, etc, etc).

So, using a gun is "snapping", but using a chain isn't?

I don’t know, but I smell a rat. If it were a white, male, Christian guy, I think his name would be out there. Something fishy here. Could it be he has a “different sounding” name (if you know what I mean), and that would explain the reluctance to immediately identify the perp to the public.

A. Being bullied when young is not a natural part of human life. If it happens among young people, adults should step in and teach both sides how to behave.

B. The target might not tell anyone. This can’t be controlled because even if you tell a teen they can come to you with everything, they don’t always want to.

I agree that not having close parents or a whole family is a problem. Though there can be an intact family with two losers as parents too.

Read all the posts above, his name is "out there" as is his picture.
The suspect is a typical looking white male teen.

Yes everyone probably experiences bully at some point of their school life. But there are always a few who are tormented every day of their lives.

I don’t know if this kid was, but I remember kids in High School how were subjected to a daily level of cruelty that had to be life altering.

Since where did I say it was a "NATURAL" part of human life?

All I said is that it's a part of life for a lot of kids in school.....and they aren't all going to school and shooting up their tormenters THEREFORE there are other factors involved.

I think it's another perverted consequence of PC diplomacy.

In schools now kids will get suspended even if they are just trying to defend themselves.

For example, if a kid tried to block a punch he'd get suspended as well as the punch thrower.

I actually had to tell my own kids that if someone punches them finish the fight because you're going to get suspended anyway. They wouldn't get in trouble from me for defending themselves.

Back in the day kids would often settle things with a fight then become friends after that.

That stress reliever doesn't exist anymore.

Administrators just suspend the combatants without trying to assess the background information.

Some people feel that since they had to endure bullying, everyone should. Sorry I misread you

Obviously most bully victims don’t come back and shoot up the school. But one is enough.

The shooter and victims rode the same bus. Buses are like Lord of the Flies on wheels.
