The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched. The proposal is causing a major rift within the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials. Several congressional aides suggested the move is designed to increase the enrollment in Obamacare’s state-run insurance exchanges.
The disparity in treatment between civilian and uniformed personnel is causing a backlash within the military that could undermine recruitment and retention.
The proposed increases in health care payments by service members, which must be approved by Congress, are part of the Pentagon’s $487 billion cut in spending. It seeks to save $1.8 billion from the Tricare medical system in the fiscal 2013 budget, and $12.9 billion by 2017.
Many in Congress are opposing the proposed changes, which would require the passage of new legislation before being put in place.
“We shouldn’t ask our military to pay our bills when we aren’t willing to impose a similar hardship on the rest of the population,” said Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a Republican from California. “We can’t keep asking those who have given so much to give that much more.”

The people who run the services can either choke-down Obama’s efforts to destroy the US military and punish its veterans, or they can cry foul and threaten to quit and mean it. Obama could not survive a resignation of the joint chiefs. Forget Panetta; he’s a career pol and loyal only to himself. But, our military can train hard in unbearable weather conditions, carry hundreds of pounds of equipment, march and exercise day and night, get up early and always...always...be on time. They must be willing to work on holidays or whenever called to report. They must be ready to put their lives on the line for Americans and leave their loved ones, friends and families for extended periods of time. Their pay is always below the pay of counterparts in government offices. But, according to Obama's plan, now they are won't even receive health care coverage equal to that of some lowly clerk in a government office whose only job is to answer the phones.
Watch for military absentee ballots mysteriously fail to show up on time.

I was an E6 stationed in Chicago when Jimmah Carter was president. He capped our pay a couple times with inflation running at something over 10% - could barely afford to feed the family. In fact I took a part time job after hours just so I could do that.
This is a repeat of those mistakes.
I am expecting to see a jump in inflation soon too. This fool and his minions must have read all of Jimmy Carter’s books and figures that maybe those failed policies will work the second time around.

Like what happened when Walter Reed consolidated with Bethesda Naval - NOW twice the number of patients are being seen annually at ONE facility [NOW about 1 million per year]. BUT, the consolidated facility has roughly 1/2 the bed space than the two original facilities being combined.
All things being equal [assuming each facility had the same number of in-patients annually], there are NOW TWICE the number of patients fighting for 1/2 the number of beds ...

I wrote a long diatribe in response to this article. I just deleted it in favor of simply expressing my disgust.
I served for 20 years. I got a good deal in the end. In my military career, there were repeated attempts on my life and those around me. I took no disability, chocking up my hearing loss and painfull knees...and some bad dreams to age and experience. I never considered these incidents as somethng for which I should gain financially, beyond my regular benefits. My ears still friggin ring to this day.
I also led a good number of young men in very diffcult situations, doing my best to keep them from screwing up thier lives by succumbing to the many frustrations brought on by the R.O.P. I did well, and I gained something for my family.
Now, under this administration, I see it can simply be taken away, little by little, with no repercussions at all.
I’m willing to pitch in. I’m willing to pay more. But, an increase of nearly 100% for healthcare is not just more, it’s an insult to my very existence and those who served beside me. I have nothing but disgust for this President and his minions.
My own brother is one of those with the O sticker. It’s like talking to a brick wall. He just shuts down when I hit him with legitimate, factual questions abou his hero. In his world the only evil has an (R) next to thier names.

I was impressed how both and the historical backdrop of the Separation of Church and State from the 1400s was premised upon a Christian State.
Only recently in the last 50 years has the American population come to even accept any notion that our State is not premised upon a Christian people.
In this last decade to 20 years, a contagion has spread further to now consider religion in the 1st Amendment to now also include any antiChristian religion.
Now the consequence of AntiChristian toleration becomes evident in the vile AntiChristian promotion by Obama. Every aspect of Christian virtue is made a target of his loathing attack, including contract law, and the social contract between the government and the governed.
