Two contract biologists and the former director of forestry for the Yurok tribe are accused of embezzling some $900,000 in money intended for spotted owl research over the past three years.

Court documents allege the men conspired to charge the tribe for phony spotted owl surveys on tribal forests, and that the former tribal forestry director improperly used a tribal credit card to buy iPads, car repairs, gasoline, and cleaning supplies.

More enviro fraud. How about the loggers who lost their jobs because of the spotted owl?

"Court documents allege the men conspired to charge the tribe for phony spotted owl surveys on tribal forests..."

Normally I'm not inclined to cheer acts of larceny, fraud, theft by deception, etc...

But, that's gotta look pretty sweet on a resume.

Selling a tribe phony spotted owl surveys.

Wish I'd done that.

I heard about this from forester a couple of days ago. It's a riot to hear the rest of "the community" of eco-thugs blather about these two as epitomizing the highest integrity.

Government regulation has made biology into a claque of professional extortion artists.

Your paying for it.

“The tribe’s letter states the funding for the biologists’ research came from the federal government — a fact Alexander has said is of great interest to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”

Yep. I don't know the people involved but hope they go to jail. Pretty sick as our tribe is a poor one not like the Casino tribes. Will keep an eye on the Eureka Times Standard and Del Norte Triplicate for more news.

Here’s another one: http://www.redding.com/news/2012/feb/28/whistleblower-says-science-ignored-siskiyou-county/

UPDATED: Ousted scientist claims Salazar ‘spun’ Klamath dam removal reports He sent me his allegations:

The Siskiyou Co. Board of Supervisors has been trying to draw attention to the irregularities for several years. Last week a Notice of Intent to sue was sent on the problems.

“Government regulation has made biology into a claque of professional extortion artists. “

Bingo! And tribal governments have always been corrupt...and likely always will be.
