Conservative Leaders Demand Apology From Huffington Over Anti-Catholic Column [Mass "Barbaric"]

Conservative Leaders Demand Apology From Huffington Over Anti-Catholic Column February 28, 2012

A group of socially conservative leaders is demanding Huffington Post publisher Arianna Huffington apologize for allowing a column to be published on her website that compares Catholics to pedophiles and attacks communion as a "barbaric ritual."

(snip) Letter to Arianna Huffington from Christian and conservative leaders

"Larry Doyle's recent anti-Catholic screed in the Huffington Post, 'The Jesus-Eating Cult of Rick Santorum,' is bigoted and unacceptable, and a perfect example of 'flame-throwing, name-calling, and simplistic attack dog rhetoric'" that Huffington pledged to avoid when she launched the Huffington Post in 2005.

(snip)

In his so-called satire published Friday, Doyle, a novelist and former writer and producer for "The Simpsons," writes that many readers would be "shocked to learn" about Santorum's religious beliefs, which stem from the church's history in the Crusades "and its current role as the tactical arm" of the fringe North American Man-Boy Love Association.

Santorum, in following orders from the pope, a "former" (Doyle's quotes) Nazi who Catholics believe "chats with God," has made "no secret of his plans to implement his leader's dicta on allowed uses of vaginas and anuses, but has said little about what additional dogma he will be compelled to obey."

Santorum has "remained silent on his religious organization's various reigns of terror, in which good Protestants and others were tortured and killed in imaginatively grisly ways. (snip)

Describing Mass as a "barbaric ritual," Doyle writes that "a black-robed cleric casts a spell over some bread and wine, transfiguring it into the actual living flesh and blood of their Christ. Followers then line up to eat the Jesus meat and drink his holy blood in a cannibalistic reverie not often seen outside Cinemax."

Demanding an apology only gives the idiot more attention, which is what he craves.

Best let Huffpo et al, wallow in their own filth.

Stupid goddamn Catholics, this is for you. Other Catholics, go about your business. fb.me/1JwxU7WcF

I’ve finally been condemned by fake Catholic spokesman Bill Donohue, whose cable must be out. fb.me/11OQyweyN

@JesseRimshas It’s satire. It’s showing Santorum what his religion looks like, filtered through his lens of other beliefs.

@JesseRimshas Specious argument. The issue is, should Santorum be portraying Obama as as anamist?

It does read like what a lot of anti-Catholics say about us here.

I wouldn’t ask for an apology, nor would I prepare a fire. Let’s pray an Ave for his soul and let his words stand as an accusation against him.

Huffington’s judgement is no different from some of Jesus’ disciples:

The Words of Eternal Life.

52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?”

53 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.

54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.

55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.

56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.

57 Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.

58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

59 These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

60 Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

61 Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?

62 What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

63 It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.

65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.”

66 As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.

Honest question -

what’s the official Catholic position on demon possession these days?

And there I thought that was the teachers' unions. Since when did Democrats think sexual crimes against children were a bad thing anyway?

Answer: The feigned "outrage" is situational.

It still exists. Satan is alive and well on planet earth! Diabolical possession is probably less frequent than obsession...but I don't follow Hollyweird anymore...so there could be more possession there.

Yes. Every rite of Baptism, n fact, includes an exorcism, though in abbreviated form. I recited exorcism prayers just last Monday, outside of an abortion clinic. Satan is real, powerful, personal, and wants to destroy you, me, and everybody you love, body and soul.

BTW, This is an unpaid, apolitical announcement.

One of the tenets of a Biblical Worldview is that Satan is real and a force in this world to contend with.

I was referring specifically to demonic “possession”, and I didn’t know whether possession and exorcism were still recognized in the RCC.

Oh, yes. Every diocese has an official (trained) exorcist for dealing with demonic posession, oppression, and influences. It’s real and it is not trivial.

Amen!

Jesus showed St. Paul so much love by knocking him down and enlightening him like that. It totally changed the course of Saul's/Paul's life, and ended up giving us most of the books of the New Testament.

So I agree with your petition, and so with all the Christian love I can possibly muster for this Doyle at the moment, I would want Jesus to enlighten Doyle even more than he did St. Paul, by picking Doyle up again and knocking him down again a few extra times. (Really enlighten him good.)

:-)

Somehow I doubt that. Doyle just brings up too many convenient liberal talking points.
