CAIRO: Senior Al-Qaeda operative Seif al-Adel, who was reported to have briefly taken over the militant network's leadership after Osama Ben Laden's death, was arrested in Cairo airport on Wednesday, security officials said.
The officials did not say why the Egyptian militant, who is on the FBI's most wanted list with up to $5 million dollar reward for his capture, flew to Cairo airport.
An airport official said he arrived on an Emirates Airline flight from Pakistan with a stop over in Dubai.
Heh, he flew to Egypt thinking that he was going to take over the country, and got busted on the way in. Probably used his cell phone, and NSA tagged him.
Oh, THAT son of a bitch!
Our friends and allies....
How would you like to have been on that flight?
Mike
Yes, and hopefully we will soon know if he was hiding in Iran together with Saad bin Laden a few years ago and the involvement of Khameini’s Qods Force.
I hope we get some info out of him
Obama caught him! Hear comes another speech.
Thanks AdmSmith.
Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook (Hamas) is supposedly in Cairo
How and when he is released will provide us with much new and potentially useful information.
It would be even more interesting if we can get our hands on him - but that is very unlikely.
It might be a mistaken identity, i.e. not the al Qaeda leader.
nobama weill probably make him a czar of moozlum outreach or someting.
BINGO!
Who in Egypt arrested him?
MB fearful of the competition?
I hope that they don’t put panties on his head.
Really.
Egyptian claims mistaken identity in Al-Qaeda case
Yeah, I saw CNN report that, too
Its a bid odd. The Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Queda have excellent relationship. Many of the Al-Qaeda leadership began in the Muslim Brotherhood. The numebr two guy in Al-Qaeda, Ayman Mohammed Rabie al-Zawahiri began as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Thanks for the ping.
Looks like a false alarm.
We don’t release all of the AKA’s because we hope that HVT’s will use those names on travel or other doc’s that we might pick up on.
Sayf al-Adel (correct spelling) IMHO is the #1 HVT of AQ. I would rather see him captured ahead of UBL and Z.
We are lucky that UBL moneyed his way into AQ leadership. If Sayf al-Adel had called the shots, much worse than 9/11 would have happened. He bitterly opposed 9/11 for the harm that would come to AQ leadership.
Sayf al-Adel is a true military professional and has always been the teeth of AQ, before UBL and Z. He was the trainer and planner that spawned the jihadists we fight today.
He is also a real ghost, and expert at concealment and movement. Likely based in Iran, he will be hard to catch.
He is such a high value target, that we want him alive.
