Three Percent
http://www.redstate.com ^ | February 29, 2012 | Erick Erickson

When you have a candidate few people really like, whose support is a mile wide and an inch deep, whose raison d’etre (a 4am fancy word) is fixing an economy that is fixing itself without him, and who only wins his actual, factual home state by three percentage points against a guy no one took seriously only two months ago, there really is little reason for independent voters in the general election to choose him if the economy keeps improving.

Seriously, putting it bluntly, conservatives may not like Barack Obama, but most other people do. And when faced with a guy you like and a guy you don’t like who says he can fix an economy that no longer needs fixing, you’re going to go with the guy you like.

You are trying to put yourself on a pedestal. There is no other way to take your initial post than condescension.

You are wrapping yourself in the flag and the Bible - but doing so falsely with your mis application.

Done.

Erick is absolutely right.

Erickson is a flipping moron. How these idiots get to be talking heads is beyond me. The economy is not "fixing itself". Fewer people are working today than a year ago. If gas prices continue to rise, and they will because of the econut policies of his fellow moron Obama, fewer people will be working in a year as there are now.

The debt is going up a trillion a year. When interests rates rise to norms, and at some point they will, America will not be able to service the debt and feed and house the 40 million and rising who receive food stamps and housing allowances.

I mean, hiw damn stupid can a pundit get and still be a pundit? Anybody know?

“mittens has stated that he will not criticize the o.”

Please provide a source for that pledge?

“America is moving hard left, politically, and exacerbating this unfortunate condition is the fact 49.5% pay no federal income tax. They simply have no incentive to change. The system is rife with freebies from government-supplied food to housing, income to cell phones... all provided by the ever-dwindling ranks of taxpayers.

This doesn`t even address the rapidly growing demographic of hispanics, whose leanings are deep blue. The more political power they attain, the more our national “leaders” are to acquiesce to their demands to further open the borders and give amnesty and citizenship to illegals.”

Scott—i hate to say it, but i think your analysis is on the mark. prayers for America and the future of our children.

Willard’s “support” is from pro-abortion, never-go-to-church rich folks that call themselves consevatives.

He absolutely can not get enough REAL CONSERVATIVES to vote for him to win against Obama. He is not one of us. He’s a liberal and that’s exactly how he comes across. When he starts calling himself conservative and you hear establishment morons like Ann Coulter call him conservative, it comes off as the phonest bunch of malarky
in the world. Because we all know it’sa lie. The internet is full of videos showing him pandering and pleading to pro-abortion groups and homosexual groups telling them he is one of them. He almost sounds like he wants to cry to get their acceptance. The man has a history and it’s liberal history. He will say and do any damn thing to get someone to vote for him. No core whatsover. Can you imagine him calling Obama a “radical leftist”, the way Newt does? Aint gonna happen.

Thanks NKP_Vet. So, when does it become general practice to put "(BARF ALERT)" in the titles of Erickson's op-eds?

I have encountered many whom make the same exact accusations you do when presenting both an historical and biblical construct to the discussion of what ails us as a society and nation.

It usually comes from the rabid secular and Godless Left.

Interesting to discover it will be levied here also.

Erick got one thing very very wrong however. The economy is not fixing itself - it will certainly tank under these high gas prices coming. I am stunned he fell for that.

I agree.

Otherwise, he’s correct about Mitt.

I agree that Mitt is weak, but Obama is so vulnerable with his horrible record that anybody can beat him.

Understood. My point was more that the post got banned. Sorry I keep banging on it.

Why don't you go talk to Sandra Fluke, I hear she has experience in that area. /sarc>

Cheers!

Unlike Fluke, I don’t want FReepers to pay for my message contraception. The adminmod already took care of that.

A people unwilling to be governed by God will be ruled by the tyranny of men. It’s that simple folks.

yep, when 'men' become *gods* and the masses bow and worship to their stuff, theyre destined to become increasingly more brutal and demanding of worship...

I don’t agree with the analysis, but Mr. Erickson has done a good job here outlining the strategy of the left in the upcoming election. This will the overall theme as the election unfolds, plus the usual smear jobs, the compliant media, the class warfare, the voter fraud in Democrat precincts, and the occasional gaffe by the Republicans that will be shouted from the rooftops while sheer idiocy from the left will be shuffed into the darkness.

In the same way that Nixon was packaged as “new,” or Roosevelt ran in 1936 against Hoover, the Obama team will spend a lot of time with slick advertising making Barack look like a nice guy, maybe a little over his head, but darn it, he’s trying hard with the situation he inherited. Sadly, pathetically, this is the same argument we hear from old Mittens.

A second term will be the end of the Republic, in my opinion, although I don’t see outright dictatorship - probably it will be the soft despotism predicted by Tocqueville, just a few die-hards sent away under the NDAA, the rest of us burdened in a thousand ways by a million regulations, most of us dependent on the state for one thing or another, and the memory of liberty will fade away like mist in the morning. God help us.

I wish there were more reconditioned appliances in my area. I used to be able to replace a washer or dryer for $100, but the repair shops have disappeared.

Since I was laid off under the Carter Consolidation (of the defense industry), and had to establish a second household, I have bought two washers and two driers. All second hand. They lasted almost as long as brand new ones would have. Only repair was to replace a thermostat on one drier.. well twice, but the second one was free. The second washer, which I'm still using, is a heavy duty commercial one, pulled out of a BOQ at Ft. Sam Houston. Both shops, one in San Antonio, the other near Ft. Hood, delivered too.

My experiences were similar.

Last time I needed a major repair, the guy I trust quoted me about 2/3 of a new machine and his opinion was it wasn’t worth it.

Reconditioned machines would be such a great depression business, IMO, I can’t understand why there aren’t any within 50 miles. It just may be that the parts have gotten too high.

The newer ones are very efficient, so at some point, reconditioned ones w/high efficiency should become available.
