The Good News: Rubio's Eligible
American Thinker ^ | July 9, 2011 | Chet Arthur

Posted on 02/29/2012 9:00:57 AM PST by no dems

Conservatives are right to be deeply committed to constitutionalism and to test all government actions against the plumb line of that great charter of liberty. We would never dismiss concerns about the constitutionality of legislation or the eligibility of persons to hold office under that Constitution the way former Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed objections to the legitimacy of ObamaCare. The former Speaker looked incredulously at her questioner and said: "Are you serious?" Happily, such disdain for constitutional concerns is one reason why she is the former Speaker of the House.

Don't worry, dear readers -- be happy. The good news for us is that Sen. Marco Rubio is eligible to be elected president in 2012. And so are Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley. There's been a lot of attention devoted to the original meaning of "natural born citizen of the United States," the governing phrase from Art. II, Sec. 1 of the Constitution. Happily, The Heritage Guide to the Constitution resolves this question for us. Clearly, says this respected source, what the Founders sought to avoid was foreign intrigue, or intriguers, becoming president. Wise Founders. (Too bad they didn't also say "Marxists need not apply.")

Thanks for your well-stated points. It makes me wonder if in a different time and place we would hear arguments that MacDuff was not eligible to take the throne as he is not a naturally “born” subject.

And apparently his parents returned to Cuba several times after Castro came to power to “assess the situation with the hope of eventually moving back,” Rubio’s office said in a statement.

Spoiler Alert

In MacBeth, the witches tell King Macbeth of Scotland (who killed Duncan to ultimately take the throne) that he could not be beaten by a man born of a woman. MacDuff, who beheads MacBeth late in the play came into the world through a Caesararean section, and hence was not “born” of a woman.

I was musing that MacDuff, not having been born, could not be a naturally born subject (in a monarchy) nor a naturally born citizen (under a democratic republic).

Chet Arthur needs to educate himself a little more on the Natural Born Citizen issue. Neither Rubio nor Jindal pass the eligibility test from the last SCOTUS decision.

If they try to put Rubion on the GOP ticket for 2012 the lawsuits will start up immediately. We don’t need that grief going on in 2012. Allen West is a NBC and just as good if not better VP material than Marco Rubio.

Not interested in Mr. Open-Borders Rubio

Well, are you interested in getting Obozo out of the White House? We can’t win the White House w/o winning Florida. I don’t think we can win Florida without Rubio on the ticket.

So even before I read the article, YOU must be endorsing that Barry Soetoro, Soebakah, the illegal undocumented alien and usurper is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN, in a faked and unConstitutional election, right???

No, not at all. And if you wouldn’t ask questions like that, people wouldn’t know just how ignorant you really are.

Not interested in playing the Boogey-Man coupled with the Lessor of Two Evil games either that the GOP-E plays every four years either.

Try another tact!

Rubio has already said he’s not interested, but you’re determined to pi$$ into the wind anyway? Did I get that right?

They all say they’re not interested. They don’t want to appear “power hungry”. Christie says he’s not interested as does Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, etc., etc.... I’ve never known one person to say: “Hey, I wanna be Vice President; pick me, pick me.”

Why do we get such crappy candidates, every four years, to choose from?

if we don't have Rubio on the ticket

What are Marco Rubio's qualifications for high national office?

What experience has he had with either command or executive responsibility?

They all say they’re not interested in the VP spot. They don’t want to appear “power hungry”. Christie says he’s not interested as does Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, etc., etc.... I’ve never known one person to say: “Hey, I wanna be Vice President; pick me, pick me.” They’re always playing like they’re “humble”, when God knows they’d take the offer to be VP in a heart beat.

I have been on this website for a decade and I have NEVER seen so friggin’ many haters in all my life. If someone came on here and said I think Jesus Christ would be a good President or a good VP, most people on here would tear Him down and excoriate me because He would not be a good enough Conservatives in their book. Go ahead, all you haters. Bite your nose off to spite your ugly face. But, in the mean time, practice getting ready to say “President Obama” for the next four years.

"If Rubio, Haley or Jindal ever gets nominated, and I hope all of them will be sooner or later, watch the mainstream media go into a frenzy about their eligibility. They have no shame."

If any of the above are nominated, I will NEVER vote for a republican again.

But, I'll say again, if we don't have Rubio on the ticket to get a big chunk of the Hispanic vote away from the Dems AND to help carry Florida, we need to get ready to be saying "President Obama" for four more years. It used to be Ohio (which is still one of the top 3 players), but now, the conventional wisdom says: Whoever wins Florida, wins the White House.

Before you start spreading more mud, are those words above YOUR's or mine???

Again, "it's about the CONSTITUTION, stupid" as could picture James Carville would have said!!!
