COVINGTON, Ga.—Last week, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he would refocus his campaign on lowering gas prices to $2.50 a gallon. On Monday, he urged U.S. disengagement from Afghanistan, arguing that Afghans need to figure out how best to live their "miserable" lives. The next day, Mr. Gingrich chastised the Obama administration for being "so pro-Islamic."

Mr. Gingrich's campaign for the Republican presidential nomination has always been driven by the impulses of the candidate and his willingness to rattle off ideas and strategies on the fly. As Mr. Gingrich again tries to claw his way back into the GOP ...

Gingrich prone to “rattle off ideas and strategies on the fly”

Is this is recipe for self-implosion as feared by many in the political commentariat?

That’s the meme, but it’s not the reality.

Not gonna subscibe, but good for Newt. I’ll have no trouble at all supporting him should he become the front runner.

Newt actually has geo-political depth to his machinations.

He is able to grasp the complexity of the present world; unlike the present occupier of the White House.

Positively Churchillian at times, he is, with a sense of American primacy that escapes lesser individuals.

Anybody but Romney and Paul. But unfortunately the reality is what it is. The is now a 2-man race and Gingrich as he did in MI can split the conservative vote allowing Romney to shoot through a win.

Thanks to WSJ, Fox News, Drudge, Beck and others out to destroy Newt, he has been struggling, but thanks to the truth getting out, these same news sources are losing credibility and have earned a lot of distrust.

With only 7% of the vote and zero delegates in MI, his presence in MI may well have been the “spoiler” role to allow Romney to scrape through a win in MI. Had Romney lost in MI, this may well have become a Santorum-Gingrich race.

I doubt, as you are implying, that Newt's ideas are not well thought out, quite the contrary, his ideas, though I don't necessary agree with all of them, seem well thought out.

In comparison, Santorum's ideas appear stale and quite limited in nature.

Rattle off Ideas.

1. 2.50 Gas
2. Get the Hell out of Afghanistan. If they want to kill one another. Well more power to them.

Sounds like common sense to me. Course Common sense is becoming a rarity in the US of A.

Gingrich had no presence in Michigan as he left the state. He did get 7 percent of the vote but my Democrat friend said he voted absentee there to “create mischief” and I wonder how many other Democrats did that. I was hoping some of the Newt voters would go for Santorum and I bet some did but we will never really know how many. I would have wanted Santorum to win there.
