Bill Gates:Obama Told Me Energy Consumption Tax Makes Sense (Video)
Daily Caller ^ | February 29, 2012 | Nicholas Ballasay

Microsoft co-founder and chairman Bill Gates said that President Barack Obama told him he supports a two percent national energy consumption tax, though the president said it likely could not be implemented because of gridlock in Congress.

“We certainly need a price on carbon,” Gates said at the Energy Innovation Summit in Washington on Tuesday. (RELATED: Full coverage of the energy world)

“What’s key is the carbon tax in the 20-to-50 year period, and can politicians do something today that would make it crystal clear to a risk-taker that there’s going to be a substantial carbon tax during the relevant time period,” Gates said. “If I’m innovating in power plants today for people who buy power plants ten years from now, [the goal is that] their equation will favor the clean technology.”

The former chief executive of Microsoft, currently rated by Forbes Magazine as the second-richest person in the world, said that President Obama was receptive to his views on energy policy.

“What we said is that, by putting a two percent tax on energy consumption, you could fund this additional scientific investment, and it would have a very good payback,” Gates said.

“The president was great,” Gates continued. “He met with us and said of course this makes sense, but with the gridlock that we have today on this, the likelihood of that kind of allocation — including the tax revenue that would support it — is very low, and that is deeply unfortunate.”

Bill Gates gesturing the huge discrepancy between the fundamental character, integrity, credibility, qualifications of the highest order required as president of the United States and that of the current White House occupant.

Bill Gates - another really smart (and rich) guy who absolutely is certain how the world should be run, and what’s best for the stupid, little people.

I loathe Marxist billionaires who insist that I am not paying enough in taxes and who lobbied Congress to import low cost Indian engineer labor so he could pocket the difference.

Screw him and his wrong headed policies. He got rich by driving down the salaries of computer professionals. He should have paid labor their fair share instead of outsourcing work abroad and importing millions of dollars of software through the internet without paying import duty.

Here’s an idea: How about we just confiscate Gates wealth and property and give it to the poor?

"We certainly need a price on carbon," Gates said at the Energy Innovation Summit in Washington on Tuesday... "What's key is the carbon tax in the 20-to-50 year period, and can politicians do something today that would make it crystal clear to a risk-taker that there's going to be a substantial carbon tax during the relevant time period," Gates said.
As Gary Trudeau said in Doonesbury during the Perot insurgency, "I'm a software salesman, I'm here to fix the government."

Yea let’s tax the most plentiful organic element on earth, when you release it. Let’s give credits when you sequester it, or allow you to buy credits if you fear you release more than you bind.

What kind of hogwash is this? Idiots on parade, I say.

Wealth does not wisdom make. God is no respecter of persons.

Between Bill Gates and Warren Buffett all the problems of the world can be solved by just taxing the snot out of energy usage. Who knew it was so simple? They will not be satisfied until we are all huddled in front of a solar heat lamp and a candle.

In the State where I live, I pay 20 cents a gallon for Gasoline to Bolshevik Dictator Obama.

The Federally-caused “PAIN AT THE PUMP” should be eliminated for one year on Gasoline and Diesel.

A one year Federal Tax on Fuel Holiday would be a wonderful election year gift to “working families” even more so than the Holiday we now enjoy from paying higher Payroll Taxes.

Every tax cut puts more money into the pockets of the consumer, stimulates the economy, and creats jobs, jobs, jobs!

The Government won’t stop spending,
So we should just stop sending!

BTW, don’t worry about the impact on the “Highway Trust Fund” as all “trust funds” do not exist, except as journal entries by government accountants. The reason is simple, the Federal Government goes broke every year.

We need a billionaire tax so high it puts Bill Gates in a shed rental. The money has pickled his brain and heart.

““What we said is that, by putting a two percent tax on energy consumption, you could fund this additional scientific investment, and it would have a very good payback,” Gates said.”
The problem with his suggestion is that certain income levels will be exempt and people in the middle will have to pay for the others energy tax. On my electric bill I already pay a sur tax for public service programs or some bull crap program and this is to help some individuals pay thier bills.

“Gates is not very smart...”

Hard to say that with a straight face about someone who made a perfect score on his SAT’s and was a billionaire software engineer before his 32nd birthday. Let’s just say we disagree about some issues...
