Short on money and staff, Rick Santorum needs help to remain a viable threat to front-runner Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. One strategist hopes it will come from another rival, Newt Gingrich.
Top adviser John Brabender says Santorum's future may depend upon Gingrich leaving the race. The former House speaker is showing no signs of bowing out, certainly not before next week's Super Tuesday voting.

Interesting and odd. Which makes it seem their objective was not smoothly advanced; very ham-handed. I expect it will have an effect though on blunting his edges on that front.

Love your analysis, CC..and positive comments..
Yes to Rick. Newt should drop out and help him after Ga.

No.
Newt is the best we have.
That is the truth that no Mark Levin or anyone else can hide.

If we do get another four years of Hussein, LL, it won’t be because of anything that Rick Santorum did.
It’ll be due to the stupid entitlement minded drones who drink the Obama kool-aid and MSM propaganda once again and vote for him..
And an out of touch GOP-E who tries to foist a lying, flip flopping Rino from Massachusetts on us and pretend that he’s a viable Conservative.

It might seem ham-handed to us, but to them it was a great talk show schtick to entice listeners...WHAT? A conservative atheist?? WHAT?? A conservative atheist who just loves Rick Santorum?? (And a woman, too!).
They both loved pushing that “atheist who loves Rick” angle. Like they believed they knew exactly what they were doing.
As you suggested, it seems political...to show that Rick has no political problems...why, the brilliant commentator, conservative, woman, atheist S.E. Cupp just loves him.
I think it seems odd to ordinary folks like us, though...
(I’ve been on the Breitbart suddenly passes away of natural causes thread. I’m still in SHOCK.)

I agree that Newt is the best we have...I love his mind and his great ideas.
But how do you think he can get the nomination by himself?
I suggest he and Santorum team up and do whatever is necessary to defeat Romney.

I pray Obama doesn’t get four more years.
If it happens, it’s a matter of opinion as to whether Santorum played a part.
Yours is that he has played no part.
Mine is that he has played a part.
The candidate with the most juice to deal with Obama is Newt Gingrich. IF you watch him, hear him, read him, consider his experience and dead on knowledge of history and his incredible ability to communicate AMERICA, he has no peer among those still standing.
Those are facts.
People are free to downplay him or dump on him or ignore him, for his mistakes and “baggage”, but they can’t hide that truth that he brings the most to the battle.
Neither Mitt nor Rick even belong in the same category with him.
But if there were no Santorum and if it were Newt vs Romney with ALL opposed to Mitt being united behind Newt, Newt would defeat Romney and be best prepared to fight Obama and the Democrat, Saul Alinsky Left.
Santorum had the right to run, same as Newt. I’m not arguing that. But decisions have consequences.
He has a big following now, but he has problems, and he has never had the juice Newt Gingrich has. Very few mortals do.
Romney, meanwhile, took down Newt with bazillions in nasty, false ads in FL, after Newt had won a smashing victory in SC. That was real lucky for Rick, who swept right into that void. (On the other hand, Perry dropped out and both he and Cain endorsed Newt Gingrich.)
All of these things have all but removed the best we have from center stage.
Rick played NO part?
Sure he played A part...

Top adviser John Brabender says Santorum's future may depend upon Gingrich leaving the race.
First, I'm a Newt Gingrich guy ...
Second ... "if" I was a Rick Santorum, that (above) remark by a key Santorum strategist would scare the "daylights" out of me ...
Why ?
It is "clearly" delusional thinking ...
That's a "very bad" way to run a campaign ... very bad, indeed ...
"If" Rick Santorum goes to sleep every night ... with his final prayer being ... "Please convince Newt to drop-Out" ...
Rick Santorum is "clearly" delusional ...
Newt Gingrich has many detractors ... but almost "all" of them KNOW that Newt's going to FIGHT LIKE HELL all the way to the Tampa GOP Convention ...
Newt will fight ... like Patton crossing Germany in the Fall of 1944 ...
If Nancy Pelosi KNOWS it ... so should "Little Ricky Santorum" ...
I guess Thursday's question is:
Will Rush Limbaugh discuss this point today ?
A couple of days ago Rush Limbaugh spent a long monologue (sp) stressing that "Rush lives in Realityville" ...
What would Rush Limbaugh say about a key Santorum Campaign Staffer (publicly) hoping that Newt Gingrich drops-out of the race ?
What "should" Rush Limbaugh say ?
Rush should kick Rick Santorum's XXXXX publicly ... with EXTREME PREJUDICE ... for that absolutely stupid remark ...
Period.
"What will we hear next from Santorum's Campaign ?" Rush would (should) ask ...
A) That Barrack Obama should admit that he's "really" a Moslem ?
B) That Barrack Obama should admit that U.S. unemployment is "really" 15-17 percent ?
C) That Barrack Obama should admit that he's "really" NOT a genuine U.S. citizen ?
D) That Barrack Obama should admit that he's "really" a freakin' racist ?
We've all heard Rush Limbaugh ... and that Rush-Alter-Ego (formerly respected) IDIOT ... Mark Stein ...
"SAVAGELY" attack Newt Gingrich ...
And we all know ... for a FACT that Rush Limbaugh would FIRE Mark Stein in a "New York Minute" if Rush felt that Mark Stein had crossed the magic line ...
The FACT is that Rush Limbaugh knowing invited (and re-invited several times) Mark Stein to the Golden EIB microphone ...
with the SINGULAR INTENT of Character Assassination against Newt Gingrich.
Did Mark Stein "savagely" attack anyone else ?
Nope.
And that's why ... after enjoying listening to Rush Limbaugh for ten-plus years ... I'm gradually weaning myself from his :agenda" and "show" ...
So where will Rush be today ?
Carrying MORE WATER for "Little Ricky Santorum" ?
"Explaining Away" what "Little Ricky Santorum" REALLY was trying to say ?
Give me a break ...
Anyway ... the Santorum Campaign really needs to stop making these "stupid" mistakes ... it's killing him ...

“I suggest he and Santorum team up and do whatever is necessary to defeat Romney.”
I see no “TEAM” in Gingrich/Santorum period. I don’t personally wish to see Santorum anywhere near the WH unless destiny makes it so.
This country needs the only person currently running for POTUS with the leadership ability at this time in the precarious history of this Nation that can bulldoze the buildup of solidified deposits of Marxism from the halls of this Constitutional Republic, and make it work as intended once again.
Only Newt.

My goal is to see Romney defeated and whomever can accomplish that, be it Newt, Rick or a combo thereof, will have my deepest respect.
I wish them both the very best.
At this point, if they serve only to divide the delegate votes enough to force a brokered convention, that will be a result worthy of praise.

Realistically, the only way to stop Mitt is for Rick to bow out and support Newt, not vice versa.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
“If we could ever make this where we have all the conservatives and tea party supporters behind us as one candidate against Mitt Romney, we'll win the nomination,” Brabender said. Rick's a big government republican. He ain't no Tea Party favorite. Newt is.
