In Memoriam: Andrew Breitbart (1969-2012)

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.

Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

—Andrew Breitbart is irreplaceable.—

The only irreplaceable man that ever lived was hung on a cross. In fact, Andrew’s death could actually spark more “good men” to action. e.g. it’s not as if he had those Obama college videos in a secret hole that only he knew about.

Nothing on our local (conservative talk) radio station. I guess I’m holding out for a Twainian moment.

I hope those videos of Obama he was going to release are in a good safe place.

He was on TV and radio several times last week.

I am NOT believing this for a minute (the ‘natural causes’ part)

43 years old. The first time I saw him at length was the last CPAC speech, I thought he was great, a level of sincerity and honest passion very few have.

The term is not used any more as a cause of death.

Actually, it's a perfectly reasonable term, not for the official cause of death from a coroner, but for a news story in order to distinguish it from some kind of accident or foul play. It's just a general description like "died in a boating accident" or "was killed by a mugger". Those aren't an official COD either. It just means that it was something organic and medical. Like a heart attack or aneurysm or such.

A coronary event at his age absent underlying health issues is extremely rare. Given the powerful people that Breitbart routinely angered, one might be forgiven for being suspicious.
