Leaving town in a hearse, right?
When Mid-Life Crisis meets Needs-a-Daddy.
If he doesn’t cease and desist immediately, I’m not particular about his method of egret.
Am I the only one who thinks ‘So what?’ As long as she’s >=18, I don’t really care about the case. How many people you know leaving a spouse to be with another adult person, anyway? Or politicians who do that? I don’t see any difference. They might or might not find difficulty along the line. It’s not like all of those with ‘ideal’ age range never divorce. Either we accept 18 is adult and responsible for their own action, or we don’t.
I meant egress.
FRiend I’ll tell you. The older I get (56 next month), I thank God Almighty I had two of the best loving, stern and guiding parents any child could ever have had. I don’t know how old you are but for me, the America I grew up in and it’s values have vanished.
“When I was in high school I had a teacher who knocked up a little sex pot student. He divorced his wife and married the girl.”
I think that this stuff happened all the time in the past, but no one talked about it and the people involved left town. It was a lot easier to disappear before the Internet.
“I was born and raised in Modesto, CA.”
Where were you in 63?
A guy I knew from college did this. I;m not even sure if he waited until she graduated. But he was in his 20’s
Like that’s going to last.
Yes the internet has pretty much transformed the world. Right up there with the industrial revolution and fire.
Home, and Franklin Elementary.
>>>I work with teens. My wife and I have been transporting them to extracurricular events. Often, they provide vivid reminders about why, even as a teenaged boy I’ve never wanted to ride in a vehicle full of teenaged girls!<<<
Yup. I’m a high school English teacher, and I agree with you wholeheartedly. Someone told me ages ago that you could tell a man’s character by the woman he dates; a 41-year-old man having a relationship with an 18-year-old student betrays immaturity and lack of judgment, to say the least.
Another poster mentioned Will and Ariel Durant. Apparently she was a student, they wed when she was 15 years old, and the marriage lasted 70 years. I carried around his volumes about the history of the world for several decades. However, that was in 1911. He was 28. Cultural expectations were different, too - if my reading of people in that era is any indication, they came to the table with a lot more maturity than this putz from Modesto. In any case, it sure doesn’t match our cultural expectations. (Durant was also a committed socialist, too.)
In any case, this teacher is in that area where you would say it is legal but unethical and immoral. My suggestion is that the state should go after him under the moral terpitude clause in his contract, take away his certificate, and let him and honeybunch find another way to make a living. Sadly, the union which supposedly represents me will defend him, or the cognitive elite in the education bureaucracy will wring their hands and attempt to forget the incident ever happened.
And it pisses me off to no end having this guy’s face as the teacher du jour. *sigh*
I was 23, she was 18, and had a crush on me (unknowing to me at the time.) I wish I had married her.
The guy looks like a dork. I hope this young lady corrects the gross error she has made.
EODGUY
You can bet she will. A buddy of mine from the navy was 27 when he married and 18-year old girl he met at the mall. He moved her out of her parents' house and into his apartment and provided her with a paycheck twice a month. Very quickly into the marriage, his young bride realized she had not yet sown her wild oats and proceeded to do so. Needless to say, the marriage did not last and he was left heartbroken and on the hook for a year's worth of alimony.
There's always exceptions but odds are good that in the near future, one or both of these spouses will be having a "WTF was I thinking?" moment of clarity.
One notes that the article fails to mention that he is a life-long Democrat...
