Already on the ground in Northern Alabama : |
Prayers up for all in the paths, and for their families across the country.
Already severe damage and a tornado emergency from a tornado in Northern Alabama.
As if Alabama needed more tornado devastation. And it’s only March 2nd.
My home is in central KY where, for some odd reason, there is a history of very few actual tornadoes, but my workplace is off I-65, ~40 miles south of Louisville, where we got hammered. What I saw on my way home from work Wednesday made my jaw drop. It just happened that the very large metal building that was ripped to shreds was right next to the highway, and a LARGE part of it’s roof was in the median. On the other side of the freeway all the trees were yellow, filled with insulation.
I’m in Huntsville.
Hopefully since spring is coming in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb...
Had about 10-12 Minutes of 1”+ Hail here east of Indy.
If they put bullseyes on weather maps, you see one over you today. :) Keep a close watch through this evening, and stay safe!
I live just NW of Hunstville, Al and just had a large tornado on the ground pass just north of my home. Early damage reports indicate a school was damaged.
A pic of the rain wrapped tornado...
PDS has been officially trademarked as “Palin Derangement Syndrome”
Nope. I just checked the active weather channel map. It missed us and has passed over with nothing behind it.
Getting rapped up side the head with one of those would hurt!
There is another line forming through Illinois into the Missouri Boot Heel. Be sure to keep checking for weather warnings all day.
Prayers for all
Looks like you folks are in for a rough day. My daughter and grandkids live in south-central Illinois. Haven’t been able to get ahold of them yet to see what’s going on in their neck of the woods.
Thanks. I’ll keep an eye out. So far it’s just all white...
Prayers for all of our FReepers in the path of these horrible storms...
The Cincy area got pummelled in the 74 Super Outbreak. My godfather’s lawn literally got roto-tilled by the hail.
It’s only 51 in Cincinnati. I’m curious if there’s enough time and clearing for the temperature to climb into the upper 60’s as predicted?
Check out the fronts on the map I posted. The warm front hasn’t come through your area yet. That is what will add the warmth, humidity and instability.
Isn’t that something? I’ve seen hail stones before but never any that big.
Military friends of ours, just posted on FB they were in downtown Huntsville closing on a house and hear the news a tornado is going through their new neighborhood.
What luck. . .
Wind advisory clear up here in Western Pa. Currently nothing but expected as these storms move into Ohio etc.
Severe damage being reported from northeast of Chattanooga, TN

Right now (1pm CST) they are clearing an LZ for 2 people, whilst 46 are heading to hospital from a destroyed Baptist church.
These storms/tornados are nothing to mess with...people need of course to get to shelters, especially if they live in mobile homes with all the reports of wind and hail. Even the T-storms are causing damage.
What the hail are those?
Counties, outside of Louisville on the Indiana side, getting hammered.
Looks like some tornadic cells are coming towards your area.
Yeah, the nasty ones are coming literally toward my county/home.
We will head to the basement once they cross the river into Ohio.
We were all down in our shelter at around 12:30 am until we got the all clear on the weather radio. I could hear the hail and the winds but have heard worse. Around 2:00 am...we heard someone pounding on the door..it was search and rescuse looking for our former neighbor. We didn't know he was dead at the time. Told the man that he moved to town about 3 miles away...the next morning my daughter called and informed us of the very sad news.
If you know of anyone living in the areas of the storms..tell them to be very vigilant and take cover..never underestimate mother nature
Prayers up for our FRiends and their relatives in the Heartland.
