*** OUTBREAK OF STRONG TORNADOES AND DAMAGING WINDS LIKELY TODAY
OVER A LARGE AREA ***

...SRN IL…IND…OH…KY…NRN TN…
STORMS ARE CURRENTLY INTENSIFYING OVER IL AND SERN MO NEAR THE LOW
AND ALONG THE DEVELOPING COLD FRONT. MEANWHILE…THE WARM FRONT HAS
RAPIDLY LIFTED NWD OVER THIS AREA…REPLACING COOL AIR WITH WARM AND
UNSTABLE AIR. FURTHER WARMING WILL OCCUR EWD INTO OH LATER TODAY.
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY FAVORABLE SETUP FOR TORNADIC SUPERCELLS AND
DAMAGING WINDS…NEAR THE LOW TRACK…AHEAD OF THE UPPER VORTICITY
CENTER AND NEAR THE RETREATING WARM FRONT. LOW LEVEL SHEAR WILL
REMAIN STRONG…AS WILL FORCING. STORMS CURRENTLY OVER SERN MO/IL
SHOULD THRIVE AS THEY MOVE ACROSS A WIDE AND DESTABILIZING WARM
SECTOR. THIS SHOULD FAVOR LONG LIVED AND FAST MOVING TORNADIC
SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE THREAT IS EXPECTED TO
WANE LATE THIS EVENING NEAR THE ERN FRINGE OF THE MDT RISK AREA AS
LOW LEVELS COOL.

My home is in central KY where, for some odd reason, there is a history of very few actual tornadoes, but my workplace is off I-65, ~40 miles south of Louisville, where we got hammered. What I saw on my way home from work Wednesday made my jaw drop. It just happened that the very large metal building that was ripped to shreds was right next to the highway, and a LARGE part of it’s roof was in the median. On the other side of the freeway all the trees were yellow, filled with insulation.

If they put bullseyes on weather maps, you see one over you today. :) Keep a close watch through this evening, and stay safe!

I live just NW of Hunstville, Al and just had a large tornado on the ground pass just north of my home. Early damage reports indicate a school was damaged.

Check out the fronts on the map I posted. The warm front hasn’t come through your area yet. That is what will add the warmth, humidity and instability.

These storms/tornados are nothing to mess with...people need of course to get to shelters, especially if they live in mobile homes with all the reports of wind and hail. Even the T-storms are causing damage.

Two dead in my county. My former next door neighbor moved 3 miles away into town and was killed in the tornado. His funeral is this weekend.

We were all down in our shelter at around 12:30 am until we got the all clear on the weather radio. I could hear the hail and the winds but have heard worse. Around 2:00 am...we heard someone pounding on the door..it was search and rescuse looking for our former neighbor. We didn't know he was dead at the time. Told the man that he moved to town about 3 miles away...the next morning my daughter called and informed us of the very sad news.

If you know of anyone living in the areas of the storms..tell them to be very vigilant and take cover..never underestimate mother nature
