Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is scheduled to hold a telephone town hall meeting Saturday to discuss energy and natural resource development in Alaska.
The event is sponsored by the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, the Resource Development Council for Alaska, the Alaska Support Industry Alliance, the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, the Mat-Su Business Alliance and Northern Gas Pipelines.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, also a GOP presidential candidate, participated in a similar event by the group on Wednesday.
Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, is among the Republican candidates hoping to pick up convention delegates in the Republican Party of Alaskas presidential preference poll on Tuesday. Alaska has 27 GOP convention delegates available in the poll.

For those interested.
Where was this focus back when the Republicans were in charge of Congress from 2002-2006? Of course all he’ll be doing on Saturday is talking.
We were originally from Pennsylvania, remember Santorum, met him once. Impression I got was that he was an honorable person, but still a politician in the end just like most every other Republican out there. The only Republican that I have met that didn't come off that way to me ever was Palin and have been watching her since the 90's. I'm not that excited about any of the Repubs running, sad.
Well, you’ve got a decision to make between three. Pick the candidate you believe is the most conservative, and that’s all you can do.
Thank you for considering Rick.
Why the hell isn't he in Ohio? Why did he go to Georgia?
Where is this guy getting his advice? From a committed loser?
Alaska doesn't carry much weight anyway but we sure have way more freedom without any taxes (especially property taxes), unorganized local govts, or laws & regulations. Funny, but I like not having any law enforcement within 200 miles of me more than anything. No state police hiding in the weeds, ha ha.
I'm interested in how it all shakes out actually.
Why did Newt participate in a similar event?
Same answer. Gingrich should spend every minute in OK and TN now.
Perhaps he needs new advisers too.
“Funny, but I like not having any law enforcement within 200 miles of me more than anything. No state police hiding in the weeds, ha ha.”
Having to pack a meal and carry and extra tank of gas just to visit your neighbors.
Sound Real Nice. Got any land around there for sell.
Newt going to Alaska to get Sarah Plain endorsement is the only reason I can think of. Make a couple of stops Then haul A back to TN, OK and OH. Sounds like Santorum has huge problems with Delegates in OH.
People pretty much like their privacy & freedom out this way. Personally, to me it's like going back to the 1940's as I envision them that is. We have dial up but are supposed to get cell coverage in 2014, believe it when I see it. No locked doors, keys outta vehicles, any ordinances or laws over this and that. People deal with problems on their own and it works out better, no joke. When there ain't any cops to call, or that will fly in the 200 miles to settle your problems it as to be that way, so nobody bothers calling the cops on anybody and everybody thinks they personally run the show, everybody else tells them where to put it. We have been here over a dozen years, hard to go to town and feel normal with all the people & congestion. I guess I was born 200 years too late but Eagle on the border with Canada will do.
