5 Soldiers Responsible in Afghan Quran Burning
Miami Herald ^ | 2 March 2012 | Nancy Youssef

A Pentagon investigation has found five soldiers responsible for burning copies of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, which set off a spate of anti-American protests and violence across Afghanistan, two U.S. military officials said Friday. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings hadn't been released publicly, didn't further identify the soldiers, and there was no indication that the investigation found that they violated military laws. However, the troops could face disciplinary action.

No way should these soldiers be found guilty of anything. How about some command responsibility? Our great leaders can apologize their asses off and kowtow, now how about some general, or maybe even Panetta, saying "They're my troopers, so I'm responsible."

I wonder what would happen, if all of the military walked off the job over this?

Agreed! Anyhow, did these korans not have terrorist messages included in the margins (in addition to the ones already present;)? Isn’t it considered blasphemy to add anything to a koran???

These soldiers report to a Commander-in-Chief; try him.

It can’t be “hate” if the perp is a Muslim, can it?

I asked one of our interpreters if it would be heresy for someone to write in a Koran. Yes, according to him. But since these were “holy warrior” messages about resisting us godless idol worshippers, there’s apparently dispensation for that.
Also pls note all the Korans that have been burned by Taliban here in Afghanistan. Not much complaining about that, is there?

Give the CIC to The Muslim Brotherhood to do with as they see fit.

Promote them to officer status, give them the keys to a new Ford of their choice and two years of free gas.

5 American heroes. Promote them, honor them, give them medals.

Thanks God in heaven for men such as those, and to Hell with their detractors.

The general who ordered the Bibles burned a couple of years ago should also be punished then...

First of all, thank you for your service.

What all of this is saying to the world (and you who fight for America's freedoms) is that it's ok for Muslims to kill anyone they want, in any barbarian manner they want, but Americans can't burn or even touch some Muslim paper they think is sacred.

Go figure!

What do you call it when the superior officers abandon the enlisted soldier?

Can one really maintain order, if the enlisted cannot trust their superiors to protect them?

Several soldiers died because jihadists are like the rodney king crowd.. they will find even the smallest excuse to cry foul and break the law. I think having several soldiers die because you were following orders is punishment enough.

"It's ok for Muslims to kill anyone they want, in any barbarian manner they want, but Americans can't burn or even touch some Muslim paper they think is sacred."

Our country is so upside down it's scary.
We have a Law Student expecting US to buy her birth control because she can't afford it.
That is scary but that someone would agree with her is even worse. She is paying $60K per year for college but can't pay for BC?
Now our brave soldiers are being abandoned by their superiors.
We are traveling down a scary road here.
