Gingrich Slams Media on Limbaugh Focus
Newsmax ^ | 3-4-12 | Woods

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich accused “the elite media” of negligence for focusing on the contraception controversy that Rush Limbaugh Limbaugh escalated last week instead of reporting on the issues relevant to the campaign.

“I am astonished at the desperation of the elite media to avoid rising gas prices, to avoid the president’s apology to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, to avoid a trillion-dollar deficit, to avoid the longest period of unemployment since the Great Depression, and to suddenly decide that Rush Limbaugh is the great national crisis of the week,” the former House speaker said...on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The controversy erupted after Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke testified before Congress to lobby for the availability of birth control. Limbaugh, who referred to the woman as a “slut” while commenting on the issue during his radio show, apologized for his comments on Saturday.

Gingrich said he is glad that the conservative radio commentator apologized but said there is no debate about access to contraception.

“This is the most fundamental assault on religious liberty in American history,” he said, referring to President Barack Obama’s new requirement that insurance companies provide coverage for contraception for employees even at Catholic institutions that object to birth control. “It’s not about access to contraception. It is a question about whether or not a religiously affiliated institution should be coerced by the federal government.”

When host David Gregory asked Gingrich about winning Georgia on Super Tuesday, Gingrich shrugged and said, “It is the biggest state in terms of delegates. It’s very hard for one of the major candidates to not carry their own state and continue to move forward.”

Gingrich would absolutely DESTROY Obama in a debate.
Yep, and with both teleprompters tied behind his back.

If Gingrich wins the nomination, Obama may decline to participate in debates. His people may declare they can’t get Gingrich to agree on the debate format so they will have to pass. The media will play the story as typical Republican obstructionism. Obama comes off as a victim of the bully and not the weak candidate afraid to debate.

In Newt's case I think we should use full name: Newton Leroy (Daughtery/McPherson) Gingrich.

Mama was a Daughtery from the Donnybrook clan.
Biological Dad a Mc Pherson.

Adopted/Step father a career military guy

Newt's a Gaelic Warrior....Listen for the war bagpipes warming up over yonder hill!

Gingrich would absolutely DESTROY Obama in a debate. It’s worth nomination him just to see that.

I have been thinking the same thing. Even if Gingrich lost, it would be worth it to watch him knock that smarmy, snarky expression off Obama's face.

“Georgia is voting for Newt...what about you other guys???”

Texas will too. But we got taken out of having a deciding impact, first by being switched from winner-take-all to proportional, then the feds moving us to May 29 date. With little importance in the democrat primary, and easy semi-open voting rules, Santorum and Romney, and Paul together will take about 50% of the 155 delegates. JMHO.

( 3 months is a long way out still, and I thinks there will be some game-changing events happen that will change the above result before Texas gets to vote)

Doesn’t matter. Newt said if Obama refuses to debate him them wherever Obama gives a speech he (Newt) will be right behind him to rebut it.

Mr. Gregory picked the wrong guy to fight with. Newt slapped him back like he was a cheap Georgetown Univeristy ho.

“It’s not about access to contraception. It is a question about whether or not a religiously affiliated institution should be coerced by the federal government.”

I am having discussions with friends on Facebook about this. Folks who link to their pages are just outraged about Republicans and the Catholic Church trying to 'take away their birth control'. I'm glad Newt is pushing back against this dis-information.

His people may declare they can’t get Gingrich to agree on the debate format so they will have to pass.

He might then go on national TV, and call them the liars that they are. That would be good.

So dispiriting.

Yes, it is. Our daughter experiences this all the time on site that she frequents. She gets so frustrated because she's trying to REASON with them, but we have to tell her that on these types of subjects, there IS no reasoning with folks. It's all about their FEELINGS.
