Santorum: I'll beat Romney if Gingrich drops out
The Examiner ^ | March 4th, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 03/04/2012 12:20:40 PM PST by Mariner

Rick Santorum indicated that Newt Gingrich should drop out of the presidential race, arguing -- as Gingrich did during his surge -- that splitting the "anti-Romney" vote helped Mitt Romney win the Michigan primary and Washington caucuses and contributes to his overall success so far.

"It's always harder when you've got to conservative running in the race as we have seen in Washington and we've seen in other states," Santorum said on Fox News Sunday. "We have the anti-Romney vote, if you will. Both Gingrich and I are slugging away."

Santorum stopped short of calling for Gingrich to exit the race, but he noted that their combined support would defeat Romney. "In Michigan, we would have won easily if those two votes had been combined," he told Chris Wallace.

He also made clear that he believes Gingrich will have to drop out, eventually. "And, you know, eventually hopefully the race will settle out and we'll go one on one," Santorum said. "And once that happens, we feel very comfortable we're going to win this thing."

“Newt on the other hand took his time this morning twisting Stephie and David Gregory into pretzels.”

But that apparently isn’t translating into poll numbers and votes.

There’s a word for Republicans who either ignore, or timidly stay away from social issues: RINOs.

Exiting polling shows Santorum in most states that have recently held primaries or caucuses overwhelmingly winning about the most conservative voters and those aligned with the Tea Party.

Which is really disheartening because Santorum is neither conservative or competent to beat Obama.

What I find most dissapointing about the primary process both this year and in 2008 is the effective use of misinformation to snow conservative voters. The ads depicting Romney and Santorum as conservative are truly sickening. But who do you blame? the organizations producing the the propaganda ... or the stupidity of the voters taken in by it?

Rick does not need ALL the Newt votes, but just the lion’s share compared to Willard the Massachusetts Liberal, TARPer, and co-architect with the late Ted Kennedy of ObamneyCare.

IF one does not see that Santorum is the conservative in the race compared to Romney, that one is clueless.

All exit polls also say that one is a small minority as well.

Gingrich is fine with Evangelicals , South Carolina and Florida showed that, besides, Evangelicals will move to the most conservative.

In a head to head battle between Romney and Gingrich, Evangelicals would see Gingrich as their man.

Romney is not dropping out, you evidently don’t recognize that Romney is here to fight conservatism, get revenge against the right, and advance his cult. Romney is in all the way.

Newt/West would be awesome, having an actual man with Millitary Experiance in for Vice Pres would be very nice.

And there is a word for those who ignore the Constitution. They are called ‘Liberals’.

I’d rather be a RINO anyday... over being a Liberal.

I’m for Gingrich, and my mind is made up. If Newt were to drop out, I’d pass on the primary. If I absolutely had to vote in the primary and Gingrich wasn’t a choice, I’d have to go for (YEEEEECH!) loony Paul - he’s nuts, but at least he isn’t a baby butcher or a union cuddler.

What this means is, Santorum has come to the conclusion that Romney is going to be the nominee, and he’s not interested in the second spot on the ticket.

Thanks Mariner.

It's probably too late. Santorum has now assumed the same unelectable status as Gingrich. Gingrich will probably get a minor bump on Tuesday, and they'll both fade after that. The Romney channel and the R's have done their work.
Oh, come on, throwback. Let's not forget the work done by CONSERVATIVES who failed Gingrich back pre-Florida and now are dumping all kinds of calumny and lies on the head of Rick Santorum (who is not my favorite but who is a conservative).

CONSERVATIVES. DO. NOT. KNOW. HOW. TO. UNITE. PERIOD.
