Jailed killer had dad, girlfriends cash unemployment checks
By msnbc.com staff
A convicted murderer awaiting trial in the Los Angeles County jail system had family cash $30,000 in unemployment checks, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Anthony Garcias father and two girlfriends reportedly cashed those checks, $1,600 a month, and also deposited money in his jail account and that of other gang members.
His father, Juan Garcia, 47, and girlfriends, Sandra Jaimez, 45, and Cynthia Limas, 25, were charged with unemployment fraud, the Times reported.

bet they also voted for him too.
Sheeeeyit. Does anybody think this is a one-time deal?
I bet they are all illegals and are getting all benefits to the hilt- welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing, free medical care and free cell phones.
Wasn’t enough. Had to steal more. Scum. Jail them all and then deport them.
But twist their ankles first so we know them by their limp.
Took the words right out of my mouth! Definitely Geraldo.
Hey, they gotta nail him for jaywalking, which was a crying omission in the trial for murder.
This is pretty common. Many states are set up to compare jail lists against unemployment claims on a weekly basis.
$1600/month??!!! Seems pretty steep. Time for Obama to see this poor guys circumstances and call for an extention of benefits.
More amazing government waste.
I would think most states have direct deposit by now meaning there’s almost no way to know how much unemploymnet, disability, etc., are being put into convicts’ bank accounts.
Different states have different maximums. The liberal Illinois is surprisingly chintzy about this, compared to California or New Jersey.
If the person uses multiple social security numbers, this kind of fraud is easy.
(Hey, we never did figure out why Barack Obama had an allegedly more than a dozen SSNs.)
...$30,000 in unemployment checks... $1,600 a month... His father, Juan Garcia, 47, and girlfriends, Sandra Jaimez, 45, and Cynthia Limas, 25, were charged with unemployment fraud, the Times reported.$30K in unemployment? Must have been a hell of a job he pretended to have.
I pulled an incredible $8k in 6 months in 2010. Freaking rolling in the green until that gravy train came to a screeching halt when, unfortunately, I found another job. (WHAT was I thinking????)
