Santorum Backs Nullifying Existing Gay Marriages

Bob Egelko

Saturday, March 3, 2012

There are 18,000 married gay and lesbian couples in California and at least 131,000 nationwide according to the 2010 census, conducted before New York state legalized same-sex marriage in July.

Rick Santorum says he'll try to unmarry all of them if he's elected president.

Once the U.S. Constitution is amended to prohibit same-gender marriages, "their marriage would be invalid," the former Pennsylvania senator said Dec. 30 in an NBC News interview.

"We can't have 50 different marriage laws in this country," he said. "You have to have one marriage law."

The comments didn't attract nearly as much attention as Santorum's recent invocation of his Catholic faith to denounce government support for birth control, prenatal testing and resource conservation - which, in the last case, he attributed to President Obama's "phony theology."

But his declared intention to nullify past as well as future same-sex marriages has reinforced his position to the right of the other Republican contenders, even though each of them has also voiced fervent support for traditional unions.

Mitt Romney, who was governor of Massachusetts when the state's high court became the first in the nation to declare a right to same-sex marriage in 2003, backs a constitutional amendment to outlaw such marriages in the future, but says he'd leave currently wedded couples alone. Newt Gingrich also wants an amendment but hasn't said whether it would be retroactive.

Ron Paul opposes same-sex marriage but wants the federal government to stay out of it - no federal benefits for gay and lesbian couples, no federal court authority to overturn state laws like California's Proposition 8 and no constitutional amendments overriding a state's prerogative to decide which of its residents can marry.

All your ever going to hear from MSM about Santorum is their and the Demo-Com single talking point agenda Which is Santorum is only about the pill or cultural behavior issues opposed by most Christian denominations particularly the largest and strongest are the Catholics of which Santorum belogs to ...In reality attacking him because if his religion .

What’s worse is the same thing is comming from so called conservative talkers backing Romney..No matter what conservative Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is going to say about the economy, oil, or any of the major issues Santorum may offer as solutions

.At the same time syndicated talk show host Larry Kudlow a financial whiz during Reagan administration is raking Santorum over the coals on these social issues over his nationally broadcast radio program claiming Santorum is not discussing and offering his view on financial subjects.

Santorum was outlining his policies on finances locally over Cincinatti Ohio’s WLW am 700 .After following through on a lengthy interrogation of oil and economic policies the talker in C.J Walker’s 5:30 - 9pm Sat slot on 3/3 starts ripping into Santorum on the “abortion “ issue on his Saturday night broadcast

Santorum’s cell phone cuts out, but the talker knew it ,but continued on phrasing another question and conxcludes by criticizing Santorum for using a cell phone....Another WLW alum Bill Cunnmgham on his syndicated Sunday night gig 3/4 is derisively calling Santorum “Archbishop”....1st of all shame on them these clowns don’t view it as a an amendment isssue.... There’s a lot of hate out there

They are void because all Law comes from God. And God is not a liar nor does He make mistakes in His Law.

And homosexual marriage is not ordained by the Sovereign, no matter how foolish or whimsical mortals have become, perverting first and foremost Natural Law and laws resting upon that.

Slavery was legal. It was against God's teachings. An all out bloody war was fought over it. It then became abolished, outlawed, by man's rescinding such a heinous system that was unsustainable and immoral.

So-call unsustainable homosexual marriages can and should visit the same fate. I mean to tell you, if the society does not reverse this trend, there will be no stopping them...marrying animals will be next, and they may also pull children out of Christian homes teaching "hatred" (anti homosexuality), based on reports of cultural PC spies, and then have the children raped by an older child of the same sex, to "Sennnnnnnsitize them" to "alternative lifestyles" and "give up their prejudices", and be sent back to their shocked parents in tears and disgust, scarred for life. Don't say human depravity cannot press it to this different level, so called "gay marriage is just the start". They will push for more evil and filth--and make us subsidize it. Priests and ministers can and will be thrown into prisons for refusing to officiate over such unions.

If you went back in a time machine just 40 years and described current American society to people back then, they would think you were crazy and say it could NEVER happen in America. Just project the line out from where we are right now, to another 40 years, not to the past, but to the future. What would the unthinkeable be in 2052, that could be happening regularly by that time?

If the honorable Speaker Mr. Gingrich were to observe the same thing, or I should say, had the courage to say the same thing, (based on his deep Roman Catholic faith which very clearly prohibits homosexual acts/lifestyle, let alone a “marriage” between two people of the same gender) why you would not hear a PEEP here on FR in opposition.

Someone alert this writer. They aren’t marriages. A marriages is between a man and a woman.

You know why that is, and I assume you use the word “honorable” rather loosely.

Unbelievable. Even a fellow conservative running for president, and now suddenly Freepers  believe the media verbatim. I can't believe you HATE Rick Santorum so much in here. Forget that I and many Freepers want him to do well. The infighting is not making sense. Do you remember these guys?  McCain  Dole
You have been a victim in part of allowing the media to choose the candidate. Make your own decision, but united we stand, divided we fall, the rhetoric is going to kill us. Just remember you signed up for FR.

After Breitbart, and the attacks on Rush etc lately, I am even more proud to be  a conservative Christian woman, voting for a conservative candidate, and I'm a Freeper. Let's be civil!

No teleprompter or speech writer for Santorum

Agreed. I immediately assume that anyone attacking Santorum is actually a Romney-bot in disguise. The best strategy for Freepers is what is in my tagline. Defeating Romney is the most important goal for Super Tuesday.

Santorum for President ping. Let me know if you want on or off the list.

If Gingrich had said the same thing I would have posted the same thing.

I can't speak for everyone who supports Gingrich, but Santorum’s statement was unnecessary and he would be incapable of accomplishing it anyway.

Gingrich would put DOMA back into practice rather than Unconstitutionally ignoring it like Obama. It's the Law and should be followed.

At the moment, Gay Marriage is a State Issue (whether you agree or not) and Santorum should wake up to that fact rather than fanning the flames that only enforce his image as a Religious Nut that wants to take away people's “rights”.

I know that Perception and not Reality, but perception is the thing that motivates our opposition. Just look at the flaky Fluke / Rush crap that has been going on.

The infighting is not making sense

Of course it's making sense to those who understand what a 'Primary election' and basic politics is about.

Politics and following them are not for the "Let's just love everybody and get long crowd...that's not how it works nor should it. It's about the best man winning and the "fight" to get him there.

Also those most complaining about the political 'climate' not being "nicey nice" probably are having difficulty convincing others of their favorite candidate.....or the kitchens too hot...and we know what that means.

Discernment is a good thing to consider when attempting to make assumptions of those who oppose your candidate...without it you can make yourself look like a nerdy idiot.

Bill Cummimgkam on his syndicated Sunday night gig 3/4 is derisively calling Santorum “Archbishop”....

Santorum sets himself right in the line of fire and thus brings this on himself.....statesmanship does not come easily for him...ask anyone in PA. ..nor does wisdom.

Santorum will always throw it out there for whoever he's trying to impress who can assist him with his political asperations....regardless if he steps on those he currently attempted to favor him.

He's up for a fall soon here...and the guy will go down hard.

Sorry...Demanding changes of acceptance in core values held by religious groups and advancing eugenics meaning infantacide and condeming seniors to soylent green centers certainly does have a place in the political discussion. Particularly when that is being shoved on religious groups by the Demo-Coms . Especially when they’re ignoring constitutional rights...

The only sane position.

If only one fake marriage is allowed to persist, it will be used to the maximum leverage as a foothold for all manner of other perversion.

California should have taught us that.

What I won't do is play into the obama agenda to make this election a religious war...and it is his intentions...and the candidates are playing his game by making it so... Nor will I climb on board all these social issues when our nation's economic survial is already in freefall...

I dont care how strong santorum is on "social" issues..and they are called that for a reason....this nation needs someone who can take the wheel and knows how to do thatand to steer Washington ...Santorum falls short compared to Newt in every way... and he sure as heck hasn't got the it to take on Obama.....they'll roll him over and have him for lunch....and his speeches show that very real possibility.

" why you would not hear a PEEP here on FR in opposition. "

But, Newt has already said something about it...

If a State were to legalize it, then he's OK with it regardless if it goes against God's natural law, or Christian's beliefs.
