Gingrich Rips David Gregory For Making Limbaugh 'The great national crisis of this week'
Human Events ^ | 03/04/2012 | Jim Hoft

With all that ails the nation, Meet the Press host David Gregory actually began his interview with Newt Gingrich by asking him about contraceptives and Rush Limbaugh.

"This is the most fundamental assault on religious liberty in American history despite every effort by the elite media to distort what it's about. It's not about contraceptives... It is about whether a religious institution should be coarsed by the federal government."

"Should the President apologize to all the men and women in uniform who he in fact abandoned when he apologized to religious fanatics in Afghanistan." (snip)

I am still puzzled as to why Rush apologized. There had to be legal reasons.

I'm no legal expert, but I think it's called "slander."

It was a foolish, careless choice of words by Rush. He should have just stayed with the facts, and he could have just as easily shamed this shameful woman.

This is why I have taken to listening to Prager instead. Dennis is just as staunch, but far more thoughtful in his choice of words.

What is even funnier is, Gregory actually thinks that Newt is a Neanderthal, brainless troglodyte.

Which disarms them immediately after Newt slices and dices their entire approach from an intellectual perspective.

Newt should be viewed from Conservatives, as a National Treasure. He is a rare man who only comes along every few hundred years.

The thing is, Newts responses are not canned or scripted. This is what he thinks and believes. I went all Newt the day I heard his discussion with the gay guy who asked newt about gay marriage. Essentially the guy asked newt if a gay person wanted to vote for you, could they count on you to support gay marriage. Newt’s response was very cordial, as was the conversation, but he said, “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, and if that is the most important issue to you, you should vote for Obama.”. I was floored with his directness and honesty, I knew he was my candidate. Not because of the gay marriage issue, but because of his conviction.

I like Prager, but at times, he takes moderate positions. Being a Jew, and considering his roots, that is understandable.

I do like the way he brings in frequent and good calls, which is what Rush never does. Rush pretty much is fixated on himself. I have never liked that about him.

I’m not sure there’s much of a legal case there, but then, this whole thing is about creating a distraction and negative publicity for the GOP. The Dems have gotten what they wanted, and I don’t think this will go much further. Rush will probably get new sponsors, but even if he doesn’t do so immediately, he probably can afford to stay on the air by himself for awhile.

One thing we have to remember is that Rush is an entertainer, not a political leader, and in recent years it has seemed to me that he has been moving more and more towards the shock-jock side, that is, just speaking off the top of his head without much consideration for where his words will land him. And he has been getting much more foul-mouthed and much less witty, which I do not find attractive for his positions - and I don’t care that the Dems do it and get away with it.

He could have said exactly this same thing in an entirely different way, which would have revealed the Dems with their phony “coed” to be precisely the liars and manipulators they are. Instead he gave them a sound bite they can use to summon up the old “harsh, puritanical, women-hating GOP” trope.

I think Gingrich handled this well, refusing to be drawn into it and focusing on the real issue. But then, he’s had some experience with Rush’s off-the-top-of-his-head statements, when Rush called him “anti-capitalist” for revealing the actual nature of Romney’s business (which Romney was trying to portray as a productive and not financial business, and certainly not one in a somewhat shadowy area of finance). That was the attack that really gave Romney a boost and the meme that was picked up by Romney, Santorum and the Dems...even though Rush backed off on it a few days later - after the damage was done.

I used to listen to Rush faithfully, but in recent months, I find that I have been listening less and less, partly because of his increased tendency to a sort of nastiness (which he never had before) and partly because I have also noticed that sometimes his information is not current. I haven’t listened to Dennis Prager - I’ll have to see if he’s on around here.

Unfortunately, that CEO of Carbonite, believes he is pandering to the new majority in this country, and the result will be far more positive than what they had before this happened.

He is getting his company national “crisis based” exposure, which is what this new very Liberal society is fixated on.

Rush's predictions are also getting hard to stomach. He still thinks he is correct about everything. Especially his propensity to claim that even Larry the Cable guy, could win against Obama, wearing only a Diaper. (My illustration, not Rush's)

There’s way too much picky, piddling negativity against Rush on Free Republic lately.

Perhaps he doesn’t suit everyone’s taste. I, for one, cannot stand Mark Levin because of his abrasive personality.

But Rush is the Big Dog. Does anyone think that any other talk show host in the country could have raised this big a stink over anything he said?

No.

Rush has been a voice for conservatism for many, many years.

People who get ticked off at him because of some piddly crap have the right to do so, but they are turning their back on the best guy in radio today.

I think a lot of people wanted him to endorse. Problem: they want him to endorse THEIR guy. If he were to endorse Santorum today, half the people here would be furious. Likewise, Newt.

Rush is playing the long game and thinking about the future of the country.

Whoever ends up our nominee needs and deserves our support.

Doing anything else is supporting Obama.

I get really sick of the self-indulgent and self-righteous posters on Free Republic who declare daily that if so and so wins, they won’t vote, will write in, will try to organize a 3rd party.

What idiots. Basically a lot of them were on their knees praying to God that Herman Cain would stay in. I remember it well.

No talk show host and no candidate is gonna be perfect in everyone’s eyes.

But Rush is the best. Never forget it.

And ANY Republican is better than Obama. Don’t forget that either.

[And ANY Republican is better than Obama. Don’t forget that either.]

I know you truly believe that, but for some of us, we think WAY down the road at all the likely possibilities. If you would learn to think like that, you would make fewer snap decisions, based on short term, limited results.

I Santorum wins, he has no clear plan for how to fix this mess. He will resort back to his Senate Career, like most Politicians. He may try a few of the many ideas, but he will more than likely cave in to the extremely hateful Democrats in the House and Senate. The Press will also fight everything he does.

Remember how it went for Bush? The Press annihilated him every second of every day. The hate they created for Republicans, and especially Conservatives, set us back decades.

Santorum will set us back even further, with his divisive religious agenda and social issues, plus his lack of ability to handle economic catastrophe.

Don’t wanna hear it Psycho.

I believe it because it’s true. Don’t bother me with psycho-babble.

We heard that babble about McCain. Let’s just go to hell instead of supporting the old status quo idiot.

Oh, yeah. That worked out real well, didn’t it.

Four more years of that and we’re over.

Don’t even bother to argue.

they got caught trying to pass that Progressive activist off on the nation. Rush called the shot correctly! Ms. Fluke came across sounding like a soiled 'er spoiled irresponsible twit asking

But the debate got steered to contraception...not religious freedom..that was Rush's mistake......Newt deftly steered itback in the right direction.

Prager can't fight.....today we need fighters e.g. Newt. Prager could/would never be able to lay lumber on Gregory the way newt did.

And I am a Prager fan.

Newt Gingrich: "I am astonished at the desperation of the elite media to avoid rising gas prices, to avoid the president's apology to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, to avoid a trillion dollar deficit, to avoid the longest period of unemployment since the Great Depression and to suddenly decide that Rush Limbaugh is the great national crisis of this week."

Speaker Gingrich hits the nail on the head.
Well done.

The fluke generation media only wants to talk about ... flukes, and ignore everything which could hurt their “beloved master” Obama.
