Newt: Romney so rich he's not worried about gas prices
HotAir ^ | March 5, 2012 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 03/05/2012 6:49:26 AM PST by katiedidit1

Looks like the race towards Super Tuesday is revving up to high speed — and what does a high-speed race need? Lots of gas. After Mitt Romney criticized Newt Gingrich yesterday for “pandering” by promising a specific price of gasoline at a specific time, Gingrich reached back into his January strategy and blasted Romney for being too rich to care about gas prices at all:

You can take it anyway you want Nana but it doesn’t change the truth which is that Mitt Romney gave his inheritance to BYU.

So do you, for example, think donating to CAIR (Crooks And Islamic Rascals) is just as laudable as donating to The Wounded Warrior Project?

Too many damn liberals at FR these days. It's actually none of your damn business where any candidate donates money unless they want to tell you or they're funding illegal activities and claiming a deduction for it. It's also none of your damn business what he makes or where he spends it. That's a conservative point of view though which seems to be the minority view on FR these days. Just as it's none of my business where you donat, what you make or how you spend it. What the hell is the matter with you people?

Let's not forget Romney's campaign is funded by the contacts he made at Bain and on Wall Street. And a lot of his Bain money was made off of the backs of government-backed pensions and various creditors who lost their shirts on bankrupt companies that Romney extracted millions from before they went under.

Spoken like a true marxist. Get lost.

Cult members transferring required amounts to their cult, is not charity.

Do you think the Hare-Krishnas at the airport were giving a high percentage of their earnings to “charity”?

Do you think that an ex-Krishna cult member could run on his high “charitable” givings in his past, and get away with it?

OK now youre getting a wee bit closer to what Willie Mitty really did...

See how much better you feel when you decide to stop telling untruths in order to make bishop Romney look half human ???

It wasnt to charity at all...

so this “inheritance” was for how much ???

That revelation may be important too..

You’re every bit as bad as Barack Obama. Should we put Mormons in the camps or just fine them for the free exercise of their religion? Or perhaps the feds can mandate they give to charities approved by the ansel12?

Where a man does his charitable giving is none of my (censored) business.

Are you retarded? I’m serious here because I don’t want to offend the mentally challenged. Answer yes or no and then I’ll be better able to respond in an appropriate manner.

Wow, that was silly, scary silly. It showed a total detachment from reality and the conversation at hand.

You're not a conservative, you're a liberal who thinks she is entitled to know somebody elses personal business. Charitable giving is personal business. Personally I think releasing their tax returns is stupid as well. But then again I'm a conservative guy who concerns myself very little with how much money a man or woman makes or how they spend it so long as it is not illegal.

You may think you're a conservative Nana but you're just as liberal as any other liberal putting their noses where they do not belong.

That isn’t quite true...

“What I got from my parents when they passed away I gave away to charity and to my kids. And so what I’ve earned has been earned through my education, my values, living in the greatest country in the world, through some luck and through hard work.”-Mitt Romney

He gave the money to BYU and his children. Often he is only credited with giving the money to BYU.

Sorry, I don't do loyalty oaths. But feel free to look at my posting record here at FR. You see I'm one of those people who actually has what it takes to post under my own name nomatter where I post. Being consistently conservative and respecting the truth no matter what it is makes it very easy to do that. Try it some time.

Some “conservative” you are, defending a man who governed as a secular progressive socialist and made his private fortune off of government bailouts, government handouts and unethical high finance con artistry. Even his so-called great Olympics success relied on sucking from the teat of federal taxpayer money, just like his secular progressive socialist piece de resistance Romneycare did. This is a man who has lived off of other people’s money his entire life and never actually produced anything.

And, yes, if I’m electing a man President I want to know everything about his financial, professional, personal and family history. He can choose not to release that information and not get my vote if he wants to. I’m a conservative supporter of free speech and the right to ask questions, unlike you. You’re not a conservative, you’re just a confused, angry, bitter, self-righteous, old crank. If you’re not actually old, then I will retract that and add that I’m sorry youth has been wasted on the young in your case.

If you value truth then you should try to understand why conservatives would be annoyed at the liberal media pushing the liberal Bishop Romney by calling his required, and evil, cult financial support as merely “charity” to the unsuspecting public.

Last night I looked at Romney’s “charity” giving, it was almost a pure, self serving collection of cult support.

As a conservative, I would like the conservative base to know a little more about what the New York Times is calling charity, in Bishop Romney’s case.

The left is using Romney’s cult support to portray him as a super charity giver, for one thing a minimum 10% of his income HAS to go to the cult, or he does not become a GOD, and the cult can require him to supply his tax returns if they think he is holding out. Mitt’s father gave 19% of his income to the cult, in return we have the Mormons advancing two Romney Presidential candidates in a row.

Romney gets real support from the cult, including not just manpower but the millions they are spending during his campaign in coordination with his advertising.

The tone of this thread is a little silly. I don’t think that Newt was criticizing capitalism, or wealth. He was pointing out that when some people (Romney) get wealthy they stop seeing how things like gas prices affect most people. I don’t see this as an attack on capitalism or wealthy people in general at all. Sorry.

Go Newt!
