A year ago, President Obama’s re-election team bragged about raising One Beel-yun Dollars, in an effort to cow Republicans. Several prospective candidates begged off including Haley Barbour and Mitch Daniels. But now, the Obama campaign has taken back its claim (we never said that, they say with Baghdad Bob inflection) and the campaign is even cutting off Democrats.
Incredibly, an incumbent White House team is now struggling to raise money despite its intense ability — and willingness — to use the power of the federal government to attack those who do not play along. Corporate executives no longer line up to pay to play.
The money people realize the shoo-in is about to get the boot.

"President Barack Obama has a bleak message for House and Senate Democrats this year when it comes to campaign cash: You’re on your own. Democratic congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have privately sought as much as $30 million combined from Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee — a replay of the financial help they received from Obama in 2008 and 2010.
"But that’s not going to happen, top Obama aides Jim Messina and David Plouffe told Reid and Pelosi in back-to-back meetings on Capitol Hill on Thursday, according to sources familiar with the high-level talks. It was a stark admission from a presidential campaign once expected to rake in as much as $1 billion of just how closely it is watching its own bottom line.
"Messina and Plouffe told the two Hill leaders that there would be no cash transfers to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from OFA or the DNC, at least not before Election Day, the sources said."

Seems like good news, but my take is that money won’t be significant in this election for the POTUS candidates.
All the battle will be in Oh, Fl, Pa, NC, and Va.
The other states are pretty much decided one way or the other.
With such a concentrated effort, the funding won’t be nearly as important as in 2008 when Baraq had to do a wide scale effort to sell himself.
He must be if he has to stoop to raising $2 Fluke donations.

That's been our problem since Reagan left the White House. The rat's are in you face corrupt and the gop is a bunch of cowards. Makes me sick to my stomach. Makes me want to collect the wife, son and grand kids and head to some island in the pacific.

So on top of all that advertising whatever he could buy would make only a minor difference.
On the other hand, Republican spending on advertising could get out a message that otherwise would not be heard. The marginal benefit of an extra dollar to the Republican candidate will be many multiples of the marginal benefit to Obama.
Obama has been raising money out the wazoo.
Most of it is going into PACs.
He went to Hollywood and raised $8 million in a weekend not too long ago. Bill Mahr gave a million bucks too. You can bet all those companies getting government grants have been donating.
