Can conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s program survive the firestorm of criticism that’s been leveled at him since he labeled Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” because the law school student argued before the Congress that her school’s health insurance should cover contraception for female students?
Experts say Limbaugh is so powerful that he’s likely to weather this latest controversy. ”The Rush Limbaugh Show” is the top-rated radio show in the country, reaching an estimated 15 million listeners on nearly 600 stations. So far, only two stations — WBEC in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and KPUA in Hilo, Hawaii — have dropped his program because of his comments.

And at least nine advertisers, among them AOL, ProFlowers and Quicken Loans, have pulled their advertising, even as there are growing calls for a listener boycott and for Limbaugh to be fired.
Asked about how she feels about the pressure that Limbaugh is facing now, Fluke told ABC News’ Dan Harris: “I don’t think it’s going to be a bad thing for the women of America if we don’t hear this type of rhetoric again.”
But that’s unlikely. Even those advertisers who’ve pulled their sponsorship will likely come back, experts said.
“We’ve seen this many times in the past,” Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers magazine, which covers the talk radio industry, told Forbes magazine. “Some of the advertisers that left will come back, and some will be replaced. Life will go on.”
Some experts believe this latest controversy could actually benefit Limbaugh by bringing him more publicity.

How, exactly, has Rush damaged her reputation? It’s kinda silly, actually, to even suggest it. It assumes she has no venue to defend it. Clearly that is not the case here. :-)

Rush is laughing all the way to the bank on this one. For every advertiser they lose, ten want in. It is also clear that the left is going “all in” to try to make this the end of him. They’ve done it before.
He’s just too big now. They are forgetting he is not a politician. And in the end, this will make him better, while fluke will go down in history with names like Anita Hill.

Rush is a very intelligent man. This will probably serve to increase his listener ship. My only regret is that Rush is falling into the RATS and the lame-stream media trap. That is, forget about the economy, unemployment, price of oil and gas, American disrespect around the world, CZARS, government spending, so Obama can easily win re-election. RUSH is spending way too much time on this contraception issue when there are so many things that need to be discussed about this failure - Obama.
Good points. The thing about Rush is that he is much more than just an entertainer. His take on the political events of the day is essential imho. Therefore he could be broadcasting out of his bedroom and millions would still listen. I predict this will end up being a good thing in exposing the nastiness of the left.

I guess that I’ll just make this posting on the Rush threads.
A lot of us wonder what we can do. We can call the sponsors, but they (obviously) get a lot more calls from the left than they do from us, or this wouldn’t be happening. We can stop using them, which we are, of course. That will hurt them in the long run.
But we can sting them in the short run also. The Stock Identifier for Carbonite, for example, is CARB. There is nothing prevents us from using our pocketbook to short them (I made a killing shorting financials, especially Countrywide, when it was obvious the mortgage meltdown was about to start - my wife is still driving the car that Countrywide bought us). Now, to stay clear of the SEC, I am not telling people to short companies like CARB, I’m only saying that it is an option to people who might be thinking that they made a bad business decision. And remember, as their stock goes down (if it does), then their owners will be watching their little pot of gold shrink too.

If ABC News was actually a news organization they would look into Ms fluke’s radical partisan background, and explore how Pelosi and her parasites exploited this matter with the help of Obama’s Media PAC.

Georgetown should just expel her. It’s a private university and it was clear she had a motive that doesn’t jibe with the Catholic faith.
When the libs jump in and demand her first amendment rights are being inpinged on, the right can just come back and ask what about Rush’s comments?
