So this is fishy.
WMAL’s Mary Katharine Ham has dropped off the airwaves. According to a letter she posted on her personal blog dated today, she’s elated not to have to wake up so obscenely early. She delicately explains why she and the station are parting ways:
“If you’re a regular listener, you may have noticed I wasn’t on the radio this morning on 105.9 FM WMAL, where I’m wont to be from 5-9 a.m. Alas, I won’t be there anymore, which means I didn’t have to get up at 3 a.m. today (Yay!), but also that I will miss the WMAL crew and my buddies Bryan and Brian who will carry on the morning show without me.
“The folks at the company had a vision for a different, independent role for me at the station, but we just weren’t able to come to an agreement that would make it work, so I’m off to do my other jobs. I’m constantly thankful I have the freedom to make decisions like that, and realize it’s a tremendous blessing to have such options.”
Ham will be on a plethora of Fox News programs this week including on The O’Reilly Factor tonight as well as Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld.

She’s a conservative woman. She appears on the O’Reilly factor opposite Juan Williams. Thirtyish attractive woman, she was once honoured by PMSNBC by Keith Overbite as being the worst person of the day.
She took a lot days off in the past 90 days, I guess she just couldn’t get used to getting up at 0330 everyday.
My daughters and i ran into her and her husband at the Buzz Bakery in Alexandria one Sunday AM. she is very sweet. I follow her on Twitter also.
She’s been a routine panelist of late on Fox News’ “Special Report”.
WMAL has a history of “easing” hosts out if there’s too much controversy. Michael Graham was a host a few years ago and when CAIR demanded he be fired, WMAL obliged. They have no back bone. They’re conservative, but only if it doesn’t cause a riff.

I doubt it. Looks to me like a routine contract dispute. Her agent probably tried to get WMAL to pay her more, and he probably threatened to walk out of the negotiations. The station then called the agent’s bluff, and so he walked. Happens all the time in business, not just in radio. But not to worry, because with her tremendous talent, MKH will do just fine.
Chris Plante who is on now makes Michael Graham look like piker.

I actually enjoyed listening to her on the radio for a while. The problem i have with WMAL in the morning is that there is only about 23 minutes worth a radio show per 60 minutes of air time.
Didn’t/doesn’t she also post at The Corner? I think that’s where I see her.
I love the line-up an WMAL but I’m getting tired of the way they treat the talent.
They fired Graham, Core, Grandy and fired Chris Plante a few times. I wish they would figure out what the hell they want to do and do it. The morning drive has been a clusterfluke for a while.
I believe you are exactly correct. She’s going to be fine, look for her on Fox News I suspect.
That rings a bell. I see “Corner” items only when they’re linked from FR.
Clearly, dumping TV has its drawbacks. But very few.
