In fairness, they didn’t exactly make themselves welcome. That has been a consistent thing in their history.
All happened at the behest of Egypt and Syria, both vying for top dog status in the Near East. They created the "palestinians," around 1975.
People who are ignorant don't know they're ignorant. And they work very hard at staying that way.
A few hours' investment in a good book with verifiable historic facts might change their world view.

Actually it was a tad embarrassing, as I reposted it elsewhere only to have it pointed out that it was not current.
In the case of Geert Wilders, this matters, because he has hit so many home runs, that keeping track matters.
For example, just in the past week he has called for the Netherlands to leave the Euro and return to the Gilder. This is the first major political party in Europe to say that, and it had a huge impact. And his timing was also excellent, because just after, the President of Spain rejected austerity demands beyond what they have already done.
Wilders has become one of the most important leaders in Europe, and without even being in power. If his party leads a majority coalition after the next elections, it may likely change the future course of Europe.
