After a huge rush of optimism that Elizabeth Warrens candidacy would end Scott Browns hold on his US Senate seat, Democratic insiders and activists are awakening to a new political reality, driven by a series of recent polls and Browns success these past few months in crafting an independent bipartisan image.
The campaigns reshaped landscape, which appears to have shifted in Browns favor, has created a quiet buzz among some in the party that Warren, despite her incredible burst onto the Massachusetts electoral map last fall, has hit some strong headwinds and will need to recapture the excitement that lit up the Bay States political world when she entered the race in September.
A new poll released over the weekend by the Western New England University Polling Institute in partnership with The Republican newspaper of Springfield found Brown leading Warren, his top Democratic challenger, 49 to 41 percent. That closely reflects several other surveys taken in the last month that also show Brown with a lead.
In a handful of previous polls, Warren had led Brown, or come within the margin of error, while Browns favorability ratings appeared to be slipping.
As the mood of the electorate appears to have swung toward the incumbent senator, it has shaken much of the early confidence among the Democrats who, thrilled with the energy that went into her first months of Warrens campaign, were convinced that she would beat Brown in November.
Elizabeth Warren has to show she has a second act, said Dan Payne, Democratic media analyst. Payne said his conversations with Democratic leaders suggested that there is some degree of concern.
She has come out of the starting gate incredibly fast, but since then she has plateaued, he said. The burst of good feeling that greeted her candidacy has worn off.

They can always do what they did a few years back wit Toricelli and Lautenberg in NJ and dig up Teddy’s corpse and run that to win.
Her best chance is to consult with Romeny’s team for advertising advice...
Elizabeth Warren = 1%er
deep blue Bay State voters will come home to her brand of eat-the-rich populism, take it to the bank
I know that we conservatives are disappointed in Scott Brown, but given the facts of life about Mass, and while I live in New Hampshire, I work down there, talking to fellow conservatives, he is about the best that can be hoped for, considering the chunk of liberals infesting the Boston/Cambridge area.
Seriously, watch the MA dems draft Ted Kennedy Jr. to run. Recent death of sister Kara, plus the sainted Ted Kennedy name would really be all he needs.
Granny Warren is the choice of the inside-128 liberal establishment. She is a carpetbagger Harvard faculty living in a multimillion dollar manse in Cambridge. How she intends to connect with the middle class is beyond me.
A horrible candidate to anyone not subscribing to the Globe.
Romney’s advice to Warren would be: “Buy the Election like I’m buying the GOP nomination.”
Same is happening to Bob Kerry in Nebraska....suck on it LIBS!
I like your tagline.
I think Tim would give Ol’ Silent Cal a run for the money (with respect to not blathering on at every opportunity.)
God, how I wish Palin was running. I voted the other day, but with all the enthusiasm and joy of a fluffy cat stuck in a torrential downpour.
RE: Same is happening to Bob Kerry in Nebraska...
After serving as Governor AND Senator for a long time, Nebraska is now turning its back on him? Who woulda thunk....
Moochelle is a fat-assed n8gg34.
By babbling, "Tax the rich, tax the rich"...
"Granny Warren", LOL! Good one!
Perfectly said.
Sen. Joe McCarthy was right, we were being systematically infiltrated with communists. We were defeated from with in. Both Romney and Obama are socialists. We are being denied the right to say “NO” to socialism.
Joe died at 48 years old in 1957, that was just 2 years after Edward R. Murrow assassinated his Joe's career and person. That put an end to shining a spotlight on the infiltration of the communists.
He was best friends with Joe and John Kennedy. Both were very anti-communist. Five years after Joe died of liver failure, JFK was assassinated. I think that was the event that marked the end of the Democratic party as a legitimate constitutionally based party.
Shortly thereafter LBJ took their first step toward socialism and communism with his “Great Society” or “Great Socialism Plan”.
Liz Warren and her ilk, are what the Democrats are.
She IS the rich.
Very interested to see what happens in Indiana with Lugar and in Utah with Hatch. Could be a real changing of the guard coming up.
