You Tube ^ | 2/5/2012 | Father Sammie Maletta

Amazing YouTube video!

On February 5, 2012 Father Sammie Maletta delivered a Homily at St. John the Evangelist Parish in St. John, Indiana. This Homily addressed how President Obama is threatening our Religious Freedom and declaring war with the Catholic Church. Please take a few moments to listen. No one sums it up quite like Father Maletta.

The bishops’ support for socialized medicine (provided there was a “conscience clause” included for the Church) was foolish. They were instrumental in foisting the “Death Care” bill on the country. Now that it’s obvious that they were double-crossed, they are finally waking up to the depravity that is Obama. Lesson learned.

"The Catholic Church educates 2.6million students everyday at the cost to that Church of 10 billion dollars, and a savings on the other hand to the American taxpayer of 18 billion dollars. The graduates go on to graduate studies at the rate of 92%.The Church has 230 colleges and universities in the U.S. with an enrollment of 700,000 students. The Catholic Church has a non-profit hospital system of 637 hospitals, which account for hospital treatment of 1 out of every 5 people" Sam Miller

Okay, the Bishops were lied to, and they were foolish. That said, show me where other faiths have acted more effectively, or even acted at all? This is something that affects ALL Judeo/Christian faiths and I haven’t seen any outrage that should be expected from all Chrtistian leaders. The Bishops have declared war. Real Catholics/Christians will support them.

I'll not support any more deals or compromises (or conscience clauses) which are intended to make the Death Care bill more palatable. Socialism in any form is not something "Real Catholics/Christians" should be supporting. The slippery slope is there for all to see.

Actually, the bishops opposed it, as you note, and this was a problem for its passage - a problem that has continued and intensified.

The core problem is allowing government in the charity business, and that is a Protestant and Catholic fault that goes back decades.

Our bishop supported it, as long as a conscience clause were to be included.

The core problem is allowing government in the charity business, and that is a Protestant and Catholic fault that goes back decades

Exactly.

The USCCB opposed it.

In any case, it’s a good time to join together to fight it rather than be split.

The American Life League (ALL) is making a strong case of placing most of the blame for passage of ObamaCare squarely on the shoulders of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). What the ALL is alleging is that the USCCB was very desperate to push for universal health coverage that they compromised on some key principles.

How? Unfortunately, it's a done deal now, unless the Supreme Court overturns it. And it was the willingness to embrace socialism in the form of "universal health care" that brought us to this point.

Helping the poor is embraced by socialism, that doesn’t make it wrong. Obamacare was always wrong, but not all Catholics including Bishops supported it. Once they realized that Obama told them a boldfaced lie, they had no doubt who Obama is, and they are willing to fight this monster that is our Federal Government. Regardless of all of that, it is not the Bishops fault that Obamacare passed.

Any Bishop who is a politician is a heretic, and would no longer be a Bishop. So this can’t possibly be true. Why do people make stuff up?

"Helping the poor is embraced by socialism, that doesn’t make it wrong".

According to John Paul II it does.

“Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism. Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility that he exercises in the face of good or evil. Man is thus reduced to a series of social relationships, and the concept of the person as the autonomous subject of moral decision disappears, the very subject whose decisions build the social order.” [Centesimus annus]

"Regardless of all of that, it is not the Bishops fault that Obamacare passed".

Not completely, of course. But if we are concerned about "Obama's Threat to our Religious Freedom", it would behoove us to be absolutely clear about the underlying cause of the threat, and the circumstances that led up to it.
