Rush to Rush Limbaugh STOP USING OUR MUSIC ... or Else
TMZ ^ | 3/7/12 | TMZ Staff

Posted on 03/07/2012 3:33:40 PM PST by raccoonradio

The '80s have come back to bite Rush Limbaugh in the ass ... Rush (the band) has followed Peter Gabriel's lead and have demanded Limbaugh stop using their music on his radio show ASAP.

Rush (the band) was FURIOUS when they discovered Rush (radio guy) was playing their song "The Spirit of Radio" as he ranted about wanting to see sex tapes of Sandra Fluke. The band got even more upset when they learned it wasn't the first time Rush (radio) has used their music on his show.

The band has since fired off a cease and desist letter to Rush (radio) ... saying, "The public performance of Rush’s music is not licensed for political purposes and any such use is in breach of public performance licenses and constitutes copyright infringement."

The letter continues, "Accordingly, we hereby demand that you immediately stop all use of Rush’s music and confirm that you will do so."

As for Peter Gabriel ... his song, "Sledgehammer" was playing on Rush's radio show when he called Fluke a "slut" ... and, shocker, Peter's pissed too.

Gabriel's rep said the singer has demanded that his music also be pulled from Limbaugh's show.

Who told the band about this? Someone in the White House, or a 'Truth Team' member, or a George Soros brownshirt working overtime to retaliate against Rush for calling a public figure a slut?

Wha'cha bet Sandra Fluke and Gloria Allred aren't arm-in-arm on TV because Fluke's afraid of what 'discovery' would reveal about her sexual preference.. I say she's a scissor-happy carpet licker!

Geddy Lee’s voice is one of the most annoying singing voices I’ve ever heard. I can’t stand Rush because of his singing. Instrumentally very good. Vocally,,,, horrible!

Yes.
Rush has mentioned before the use of My City Was Gone. It was irony—a band/lead singer opposed to him, and he was using their song. To their credit, it is very catchy (esp. the bass line). Hynde wanted him to stop using it, but she “let him” continue to do so after he donated to PETA, plus supposedly Hynde’s mother was a fan of the talk host.

Hynde’s vegetarian restaurant in Akron, OH, her home town, flopped (”I went back to Ohio...”) When George W Bush won re-election, and it seemed that Ohio was the difference, Rush played the whole song. “I say, way, oh, way to go Ohio.”

Hynde on stage: “Are we at war yet? Bring it on, I hope the Muslims win! Down with the economic s-— this country represents!”

As she counts her millions.

“Nothing of theirs worth stealing (unless you like elf music).”
I beg to differ. They are one of the premier bands of the 80’s and 90s. Their music, although not to everybody’s liking, has influence the world of rock greatly.
I am 50+ years old and still love their music. What kind of music do you like?

You might remember when, several years ago, The Pretenders told him to knock-it-off

Rush explained that...it was her Manager that ceased it, then Chrissi found out and then allowed it, hence it plays as the opening music to his show.

Guess the fire was getting too close. Rush and Gabriel don’t want anybody badmouthing their “Slut Fanbase.”

It wouldn’t phase me at all if Rush would just use conservative artist’s music. Ted Nugent and Hank Williams Jr come to mind.

I think we’ve been down this road before, years ago, and the band lost. So long as royaly fees are paid (ASCAP, SESAC, and BMI}, there’s probably not a lot they can do about it. It’s licensed for public performance, and it’s being performed in public....so

I think he should just use classical music and tell the rest of them to bite it on royalties.

This is more Media Matters type generated controversy.

Rush does NOT use background music behind his discussions.

There was no Rush song parody so it could not have been playing "as he ranted".

Same with Peter Gabriel.

These di(ckheads need to realize they are being spoonfed liberal hate of Rush Limbaugh.

Lefties hate Rush's (the band's) music too. Especially the politics of it.

Did Fishbone publicly demand that Jimmy Fallon remove all of their music from his tv show after he used “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” to introduce Michelle Bachmann to the stage?

That is the weird part, the band Rush aren’t leftists.

Their clueless Leftist crybaby whining would be perfectly delivered by the grating, unlistenable “singing” voice of Geddy Lee.

Did any of these bands get to complain when Rush (the band, not the man) re-recorded THEIR hits?

Eddie Cochran and Robert Johnson don't get a say?

Instead of "The Spirit of the Radio," Rush Limbaugh should use "Mr. Radio Man" by the Lucky Strike Orchestra. I'm sure they wouldn't object.

This is so simple and, I believe, ElRushbo proved it with The Pretenders.

Offer them money to play their music. If they decline, offer them more. There comes a point when their agent tells the artist to “take the money” because the agents cut is too lucrative to ignore.

The artist is manipulated by the agent...capitalism!
