Forty-seven years ago, marchers attempting to cross the William Pettis Bridge from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., to protest Jim Crow laws aimed at suppressing voting rights for African-Americans were savagely beaten by state police on foot and horseback.
But yesterday, demonstrators assembled in New York to march to protest a situation created by laws in dozens of states across the country that will negatively impact the voting rights of minorities and low-income citizens. Unlike the blatant conduct of the Democratically controlled "Solid South" of years gone by, it's Republican dominated legislators of the New South who are passing bills requiring photo identifications and other documents before voters will be allowed in the voting booth. Why? Well, these new members of the GOP are claiming they're trying to prevent voter fraud, even though all kinds of studies, including one conducted by Republican lawyers, have not been able to find instances of widespread voter fraud. On the other hand, a study conducted by the nonprofit Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law found that the newly created voting laws will affect the ability of millions of people, mainly minority and the elderly, to vote.

Anyone demanding a free ID card? Ms Fluke wants free birth control but no demands for free ids. All BS.
With voter ID, (1)the graveyard vote will disappear, (2)poor old Bugs and Porky will not be allowed to vote and (3) most voters will only be allowed to vote once. Then the correct candidate probably will not win. See? Three ways the elderly and minorities are disenfranchised by the evil right Wingers.
O’s law professor friend, the late Derrick Bell, would have an easy solution for the perceived problem. Just don’t let whites vote.
Of course our dearly departed Rep. Donald Payne( D NJ 10 - JC & Newark) thought the same way. His Newark replacement will be pretty much the same.
If there is a huge overlap, then someone had better ask the educrats why...
“..that will negatively impact the voting rights of minorities and low-income citizens..” Where’s the proof of this statement? What it will impact is the fraudulent voting of the democrats and that is what the democrats don’t like.
Just dont let whites vote

Don’t give them ideas.
Like ‘they’ say, if voting really meant anything, they wouldn’t let us do it.
Rush was relating a story today about SC offering free ID to those that wanted them which - through hook or crook- ended up offering free ride to and from the registering place, free card etc etc...
Something like 33 people took advantage of this ‘much needed’ program in a 30 day period.
A lot, if not all, states have some kind of law or statute that requires you to show ID if asked for by a policeman, you need ID to get food stamps, public housing, cash a lottery ticket, draw Social Security, draw unemployment and EVEN to vote in a union election plus most activities in a daily basis if you come in contact with ‘public servants’.
I manage to ‘upset’ the people at polling places by showing my ID and Voter Reg Card prior voting - Have even gotten in arguments with some calling me a ‘Smart Ass’ - well Yes, I am.
If nothing else, the Voter Card (sort of) ensures you are at the right place to vote also.....
Take a second and scroll down to the comments. His readers aren’t having any of his Barbra Streisand.
Dead black people are having their right to vote challenged.
Living black people are having their (Democratic) right to vote multiple times in the same election challenged.
Yes, folks, its racism, pure and simple.
The Jersey Journal is from Hudson County, NJ; we have the most active “dead” voters in the whole COUNTRY (this is where several Dem mayors and other assorted politicians went to prison just a few years ago, including the mayor of Hoboken).
Few places in the South are as segregated as NJ; Frederick Douglas pointed out the Northern hypocrisy over a century ago.
The survey included the following four questions:
1) Do you have a current, unexpired government-issued ID with your picture on it, like a drivers license or a military ID?
2) If yes, does this photo ID have both your current address AND your current name (as opposed to a maiden name) on it?
3) Do you have any of the following citizenship documents (U.S. birth certificate/U.S. passport/U.S. naturalization papers) in a place where you can quickly find it if you had to show it tomorrow?
4) If yes, does [that document] have your current name on it (as opposed to a maiden name)?
The survey can be downloaded at www.brennancenter.org/page/-/d/download_file_39242.pdf.
That’s what the VRA is for. Effective disenfranchisement and non-representation for Whites.
“Injustice” by J Christian Adams, Regenery 2011, about how
Obama justice department, Voting Rights section is not unbiased, doing little to prevent vote fraud. Important to publicise this book
And each week, dozens of black racist thugs get their brains blown out by homeowners defending their homes and families. These homes are defended by white people, black people, yellow people and red people.
Black criminal thugs account for 80% of all murders in the United States, according to recent FBI statistics. These black racists are defended by the Chief Racist infesting the Whitehouse, barack “screw you honkey” obuma, and his utterly creepy wife, Michelle “Let Them Eat Cake” obuma.
Things will get interesting around election time as obuma calls for his black racist thugs to take to the streets and kill the honkeys.
It will answer this question: Can you hold a Glock sideways and hit the target?
If they were handing out checks at the voting booths the minorities and low-income citizen would be fighting each other just so the could show thier ID’s.
