Super Tuesday Alaska: Sarah Palin voted for Newt Gingrich

Sarah Palin revealed late on Super Tuesday that she voted for Newt Gingrich in the Alaska caucuses.

After declining to reveal to a CNN reporter which 2012 candidate she voted for, Palin said in a later interview with a Fox News host that she had cast her ballot for “the cheerful one.”

-snip-

“Who can best bust through that radical left’s kind of dispensation and desire to mistreat those who are defenseless, mistreat those who perhaps have some disadvantages by making them more beholden to government? Who best can contrast themselves from that?” she continued. “I thought who best could do that [and] my own personal opinion is, the cheerful one, is Newt Gingrich. I have appreciated what he has stood for, stood boldly for.”

Gingrich had chosen the word “cheerful” when asked in a February GOP debate to pick one word to define himself.

Palin had also argued that a prolonged nominating process was a good thing for the Republican Party.

“I want to see the process continue, more debate about who it is, who can bust through the Orweilian Obama rhetoric and pandering that we see in the incumbent — who can bust through that with facts, history and logic and common sense, in order for American voters to understand we do have a choice,” Palin said on CNN. “There is a contrast between the incumbent, Barack Obama, and any of the four on the GOP ticket.”

Well, so did I. Hopefully he continues to gain momentum.

In my estimation he stands out as the man who is most willing to un-do the bull-shiite Hussein has done.

I voted for Newt here in Florida.

I know a lot of people who voted early for Romney;

now regret that vote. Newt can undo Obamaland.

I like her style on this. She’s not going to give up her political capital on an endorsement. The candidates will need to rightfully EARN their place. Very savvy.

I received this from a friend this evening, and it is very disturbing. We have to vet candidates well, and when simple questions on past records are not answered, a red flag needs to go up!

I was hoping that this article at the link was not true. But now a few more of my friends are voicing concerns about it.

Sarah voted for McCain as well, oh well.

Reportedly, she voted for Huckabee in the 2008 primary.

I voted for Newt, but I fully support Santorum's stand on that ridiculous request.

Well, her vote for McCain helped him secure a second place finish whereas her vote for Newt only helped him secure a fourth place finish.

I know it is too late now, but I can't help but think that Sarah would have cleaned house had she gotten into the race.

If he has nothing to hide he needs to show the proof.

Gingrich came in dead last in the Alaska caucuses.

Richard John Santorum, born in Winchester, Virginia on 10 May 1958.

He's eligible!

I voted for Newt. But Santorum rules and birthers drool! And that's the way it is!

Gingrich came in dead last in the Alaska caucuses.

I think Sarah has progressed past being primarily an Alaska person.

Yeah, that's where she's from, and it's a beautiful place, and she's a beautiful person.

But how Gingrich did in Alaska vs who Sarah voted for is not really that interesting a question.

The Question is not Rick Santorum but his father when did he become a US citizen

Not relevant. Santorum, having been born in the USA, is entitled to US citizenship by birth, regardless of his parents. Therefore, he's as natural born an American as Billy and Bernardine and fully eligible to be President.

Arguing this point is fruitless: the Court is never going to go the Vattel route. Even if they did, they don't have the authority to remove. That takes two thirds of the Senate. So, all you accomplish by bringing it up is to restrict the GOP field. That's pure stupidity! A total dead end! Marco for VP!!

I’m absolutely convinced that Newt Gingrich is the junkyard dog we need to rip Obama a new one and send him slinking back to his Chicago slime pit with his tail between his legs. Newt has plenty of DC experience as Speaker, executive ability from his many enterprises, and a silver tongue that’s razor sharp! He’s fast on his feet, delivers it straight up with no hemming and hawing, and is often witty. His work with American Solutions was very impressive and as we’ve seen recently, Newt is able to put into words what the vast majority of Americans really believe. His fevered brain also has plenty of ideas for making government work better for taxpayers. Is Newt pure as new-driven snow? No - none of the presidential candidates are in line for sainthood. Whatever Newt’s “baggage”, it pales next to Obama’s habitual lying and outright corruption - and unlike Obama, Newt is 100% American! Newt is like Larry the Cable Guy: send him to DC and he’ll “Get ‘er done” for all of us. Newt has “Been there, done that! Junkyard dogs are not show dogs, but they’ll save your bacon!

I am damn so mad at what Obama and his fawning bootlickers have stolen from us - you should be too - and I want someone to represent me! Newt Gingrich is that man! Sic ‘im, Newt!

Never thought of Gingrich as the “junkyard dog,” but I agree with you wholeheartedly that he is man we need.

Amen brother. I saw Palin as the last chance for the People to truly have a President that represented them. I never considered her to be the brightest bulb, but I sure thought she was bright enough to put together a cabinet that would clean house, but it was not to be. I fear there will never be another opportunity.

Look how fragmented we are already, with Romney the apparent winner, and he will be destroyed in the General.

When we had nine candidates, I predicted that none of the nine would ever be President, sadly it is beginning to look like I was prescient.
