Doctor Claims Everything You've Heard About Cholesterol and Heart Disease is Wrong

RUSH: Now, this health story. The website's called Signs of the Times, and the story here is by Dr. Dwight Lundell. "Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease." The upshot of it is that everything that we think we're doing to promote cardiovascular health is actually contributing to cardiovascular problems. This story prints out six pages. The doctor wrote it. So many times I have mentioned over the years about diet, health, food, how we are being manipulated by government goals, wrong medical ideas. Food activists with a logo and a fax machine putting out bogus information to the media, and they just run with it. As long as it contains "government has to step in to save us," then they'll be happy to promote whatever the lying data is.

So what we have here is a heart surgeon who is saying that he and his profession have been wrong for decades. This experiment with statins and low-fat diets has not worked. He says it's time to move on to another way. I'll give you some pull quotes before getting to the story. "Despite the fact that 25% of the population takes expensive statin medications and despite the fact we have reduced the fat content of our diets, more Americans will die this year of heart disease than ever before."

Another pull quote. "I saw it in over 5,000 surgical patients spanning 25 years who all shared one common denominator -- inflammation in their arteries." Not blockage, inflammation.

“Homocycteine causes inflammations’

Not exactly. Like saying pepsin causes heart burn. They are links in the biochemical chain. The thing that causes inflammation is poor eating.

Right or wrong, our household uses butter and we by olive oil by the big tin for two reasons, it is closer to natural and it has a taste advantage. Do your own cooking with natural ingredients. It's healthier and it tastes bettter.

"One tablespoon of corn oil contains 7,280 mg of omega-6;" remember, that's bad, "soybean contains 6,940 mg. Instead, use olive oil or butter..." How many of you are afraid to eat butter? I'm not. (chuckles) At all. Eat "olive oil or butter from grass-fed beef. Animal fats contain less than 20% omega-6 and are much less likely to cause inflammation than the supposedly healthy oils labeled polyunsaturated."

I took a few notes on this:

Bad:

Overload of sugar, flour, simple carbs, Omega 6 vegetable oils such as corn, soybean, sunflower, cottonseed. (slowly poisoning us) Viruses can cause inflammation, bacteria, and toxins such as smoking.

Good:

Olive oil
Butter
Omega 3 oil

When you have inflammation, cholesterol gets trapped in your blood vessels because they are like sandpaper.

I have long thought this and was discussing it with a friend today.

Just eat real food and stay away from white products. it’s the people who bombard their bodies all day long with this stuff who suffer from diabetes and other ailments.

Better to have a fixed time when they allow it.

Is the Franken in the foods supposed to make any difference in the kind of oil they put out? Until somebody shows that, I’ll eat Frankencorn oil as soon as normal corn oil.

We have the Internet for research.

Yup and any fool can put up a web page. Old fashioned processes of determining who's believable and who's dancing with their pants on fire can not be avoided.

FWIW, it seems that his medical license was revoked in 2008.

If you’re interested in this you should watch the movie FATHEAD. It explains the bogus Lipid Hypothesis and the story of the McGovern committee that led us into this mess. It’s presented in a light comedic way. Informative and entertaining. Refutes Morgan Spurlock’s Supersize Me as well.

There is much that Big Pharma and medicine do not tell us.
I and my wife are 85, neither of us use prescription medications. 35 years ago we were told to never buy a food with more than 5 ingredients. We read labels and try to abide by this.
16 years ago I moved from sea level to 5000 feet elevation.
Within 45 days I had a heart attack. They drilled out my left descending artery and told me that if I had stayed at sea level that artery would have closed and I would have died.
I started Chelation (intravenous feeding of EDTA). Took 24 treatments every other week and then a monthly treatment. I have not been to a “Heart Doctor” in all that time. My blood pressure is normal(I work at it)I try to eat right but am not perfect. The AMA says Chelation doesn’t work but I have talked to dozens of heart patients taking Chelation to know they are wrong. The NIH did a 3 year study of Chelation, one patient died so they quit. If they proved it did work many hospitals would go bankrupt, the heart is the mainstay of hospitals.
Before going to a doctor for anything I go to the internet to look up natural treatments and foods for my problem.
Just some thoughts. It is hard for me to understand why all medications have side effects, some seriously, and they just mask symptons and do not cure anything.

I don’t totally agree with his theory on the cause, it is too simplistic. We know that there are 5 or more bacterial infections that can cause heart disease. But I agree that the low saturated fat diet and pharma fixes to reduce cholesterol is the wrong path, way wrong.

Cholesterol is the patching material, the emergency backup system to prevent death due to cracked blood vessels and damaged red blood cells.

The artery damage he describes is Subclinical Scurvy.

My dad had a massive heart attack in the early 60s, his heart was badly damaged, he took whatever they had back then and a maintenance dose of penicillin, he lived another 30 years and lived well.

When his side of the story is looked at, it makes the local board look like Keystone Kops for the most part. He took his shingle down four years before the board challenged his license, and of course he didn’t go through the expensive process to challenge the challenge. A fumble or so, but it’s not always clear that the fumble should be blamed on him.

" LOL, who was the old hippie that said eating trees would make you live forever, I think he is in the same place as the doc that said starving yourself helped also. "

well, when i was a young hippie the vegetarians looked down on the "meat eaters"

the vegans looked down on the vegetarians

the fruitarians looked down on the vegans (because tearing a carrot out of the soil was so *violent*)

the free fall fruitarians looked down on the regular fruitarians (because free-fallen fruit is "given up willingly" by the tree, picking fruit from the tree is "raping" the tree)

and then there were the breatharians, who contended they actually got all of their necessities for the body by breathing, smelling flowers, and laying in the sun...needing no food...supposedly

and because the breatharians couldn't get along, a "minimalist breatharian" movement began...they believed the population explosion would get so severe, that one day there wouldn't be enough air for everybody, so not only did they try to live on air, but they tried to breathe as little as possible, because it was selfless considerate and holy to prepare for the day the world would run out of air to breathe (?!) so they had to learn to take as little air as possible and convince other people to give up their air-hoggish ways...and also, of course, because it let them look down on "ordinary" breatharians and everybody else

then one day investigative reporters followed the guru of the "minimalist breatharian" movement from a convention center, his pockets full of cash donations, to a motel where he ordered pizza, and they did an ambush interview on him at a diner having pancakes for breakfast, and it seemed that whole house of cards fell in about 24hrs. believe it or not, those movements all existed in and around the early 70's and probably still have the odd follower...on that "trading housewives" show a breatharian just about made a family revolt when she tried to get them to smell flowers in lieu of dinner...i joined the red meat and a gallon of coffee a day movement...we don't look down on anybody, we just outlive them...lol
