Are you Catholic? Because it is sinful and further damaging to a soul to accept Our Lord in Holy Communion when someone is not in a state of grace. If she was openly lesbian then she was not in a state of grace.

Canon 915 of the Roman Catholic Church’s Code of Canon Law states those who are “obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.”

This is the clincher in the article. Being a lesbian is about as grave a sin against Canon Law as you can find. And Holy Communion isn't about cleansing. I've never taken Communion before Confession. A true Catholic will not take Communion or will go prostrate before the Host and be simply blessed by but not receive the Host if they are with sin.

I spend time in the church every Saturday for Confession and spiritual meditation so that I may receive Communion at Mass. Under no circumstances should this disgusting Buddhist lesbian be given the Host. Liberals are trying to demean and destroy the meaning of spirituality to suit their twisted means, and I pray this church and the diocese do not cave to media pressure.

We need to go back to the church of old: a hard-nosed institution that requires her members to be upright citizens who walk in the light of the Lord. He who walks with sin does not deserve a place at the table of the Lord.

With Catholics, Holy Communion is a sacrament. One needs to be baptized and educated in Catholicism before receiving. One must also be in a State of Grace. In short, non-Catholics do not receive Communion. This woman wasn’t Catholic and she was in a sinful relationship. This barred her from receiving the Sacrament. To some non-Catholics, this may sound strange; however, it is simply the rules of the Church. She could have gotten in the Communion line, crossed her arms across her chest and received a blessing. Obviously she felt “entitled” to go against the Church. IMHO.

Right sentiment, wrong Sacrament. What the woman needed was the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance, or Confession) in order to repent and be cleansed from her sin.

Receiving Coommunion in an unrepentant state just results in yet another sin, namely sacrilege. I think that, because of his pastoral concernfor her, thew spriest was trying to prevent her from getting into even more serious sin.

May the Lord come to her assistance so that she may be blessed with repentance and eternal blessedness.

This filthy girl should have received communion if for no other reason then to cleanse her pathetic soul.

Someone needs to re-read John 4:4-42 and re-learn the lesson of Jesus and the woman at the well so as to be gentler with their tongue (and typing.)
