Sleep Train, one of the companies that dropped its ads from Rush Limbaugh's radio program after Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute," asked Limbaugh for another chance.
But Limbaugh denied the company's request.
The Times added that Limbaugh spokesman Brian Glicklich forwarded an email he said had been sent to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen. According to that email, Limbaugh himself considered the company's request and denied it.
Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show, the email began. Rush received your requests personally.
Unfortunately," the email continues, "your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh's character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.

I have forgiven people who have wronged me, yet in some cases I have felt it was best to discontinue the relationship with them going forward.

As for Sleep Train, their CEO should have called Rush BEFORE yanking the ads and got his side of it. Rush built his business, period. He didn’t. He pulled the ads.

I agree...BUT TRIPLE THE AD RATE to teach them a lesson.
I humbly disagree with YOU. There's nothing to "make up". Sleep Train made a business decision. So did Rush. Rush has advertisers fill the spots for those that left. Those that left may now be losing business because of their rash decisions... well, to freakin' bad. They made their choice, and should live with the consequences of their actions.
F*** em. They made a spectacle of Rush while down. If Rush does take them back, I would have added 50% to the original ad rate to teach these backstabbers a lesson.
This was before the slut incident, but I bought a new mattress at Mancini’s primarily because I could not find ANYTHING in Sleep Train for under $900 (full-size, btw).
Now that they don’t have to pay for ad time on Rush’s show, maybe they can drop their prices a bit. Not that it’ll make me shop there.
I must admit I’d always wanted Rush to send me a Sleep Number bed instead of an autographed MacBook. Guess that dream is over.

I don’t mean to nitpick, but Corvettes don’t have a back seat. Besides, I’d imagine a supply closet or a dark alley is more her style.

When this kerfluffle started, I was told that they were. I could be wrong. It seems against Rush's MO to endorse two of the same type of product unless their parent company is the same.

True as far as it goes. However, Rush is a class act who has shown immense loyalty to his various partners. For example, Rush could have had his program also carried on XM-Sirius satellite radio ANY time he would have wanted and it would have immensely benefited him personally.
From a years ago experience I had where I couldn’t get reception of the Rush Limbaugh show while on a vacation trip to Yellowstone national park, I thought him going on satellite would have been wonderful and a service to his audience. But later I heard Rush explain to a caller why he didn’t (and wouldn’t) do that. It was basically loyalty to his long time radio station partners who he would never betray. A loyalty that I realized, while resulting in a cost to him, he continued to hold because IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
But loyalty has to be a two way street. These “sunshine” advertisers have essentially BETRAYED Rush. There is nothing worse than betrayal by a long time friend or loved one. These businesses that have pulled their commercials have FORFEITED the loyalty that Rush felt for them. He should treat them as the disgusting scum that they are, IMHO. And I think that we Rush listeners should do the same.

Sleep Number is a specific model of mattress, made by Select Comfort. IIRC, it can be found at Sleep Train, a chain of mattress stores.
Yes, and that is the best part of all this. Rush is ABSOLUTELY right to not agree to do 'voiced' commercials for them ever again, as he should with Carbonite also. They didn't just stop their ads, they publicly put out statements chastising Rush. However, I don't feel he should black-ball them from buying time on the local affiliates, (even if he can).Just think of the stink that will raise with the lefties!! Not only will the Right continue to boycott them, but now the lefties will also. They are D.O.N.E.

Sleep Train is making ANOTHER mistake by not apologizing to Rush NATIONALLY on the things they said about him.
Pro-flowers, Sherries Berrys and Carbonite must be kicking themselves in the head over the potential millions of customers they have lost after leaving RUSH and telling all of his listeners they are no longer interested in having them as their customers. Sleep Train begged RUSH to take them back. He PERSONALLY looked at their request and TURNED THEM DOWN! I wouldn't want to be the back-stabbing owner who RUSH made a multi-millionaire. Must be something to watch your business go down the toilet because of your own stupidity and unfaithfulness.
I do not remember hearing any ads for “Sleep Train” on his show and I’ve been listening for a long time.
