Why The Media Wants Romney To Win The Nomination So Badly

Why The Media Wants Romney To Win The Nomination So Badly

This recent item in the New York Times below is in good part what's behind the liberal media's desire to see Mitt Romney get the nomination. Now, I don't see Romney quite this way. But the left does. Religion, wealth, a "retro vision of the country." In short, in Romney they see everything they have been working to destroy for decades. They even want to pretend he isn't flawed, hence the over-looking of his many gaffes and retorts that invite his being slammed. But they don't slam him, ... not for now.

Read it. Then realize how badly they will aim to destroy him in the general. And as his campaign stands today, he'll be a sitting duck. He's configured perfectly for a GOP primary today, even if he had to contort himself and disregard principle to get there. The media has already annointed him. But remember the day after McCain got the nomination and they turned on him, the first story being some alleged affair, or something? That was nothing.

In Romney, the media, wrongly, in my opinion, sees the perfect symbol of everything they are against. Now, imagine what it would mean to them and the Left to beat him, especially with Obama? For them it will be like turning a page in America that can never be turned back. And only a fool would think they won't do everything to destroy him after having made him appear so invincible. Unfortunately, combined with a lack of enthusiasm on the part of conservatives because he's actually such a weak candidate, they very likely will get their wish.

What’s Race Got to Do With It?

Pundits have already begun the endless debate over whether Mr. Romney’s wealth and religion are hindrances or assets. But there has yet to be any discussion over the one quality that has subtly fueled his candidacy thus far and could well put him over the top in the fall: his race. The simple, impolitely stated fact is that Mitt Romney is the whitest white man to run for president in recent memory.

Of course, I’m not talking about a strict count of melanin density. I’m referring to the countless subtle and not-so-subtle ways he telegraphs to a certain type of voter that he is the cultural alternative to America’s first black president. It is a whiteness grounded in a retro vision of the country, one of white picket fences and stay-at-home moms and fathers unashamed of working hard for corporate America.

Ubama created OWS to run against Romney as Mr. Wall Street.

If Myth is the nominee, OWS will burn the country to the ground next summer, and Ubama will blame Myth.

If Myth is not the nominee, Ubama is screwed.

Same reason they wanted McCain.

Obama can beat him...

...and if Obama should falter for some reason, he’s a RINO anyway.

If Romney were to use the same tactics that he used to put Newt in the low teens in the polls and what he is trying to do to Rick Santorum, he would absolutely cream 0bamao in the general. Instead of being a nice guy who wants to “work with the DemocRATS”, if he came out and opened up on this anti-American occupier in the White House, victory would be assured.

But, we know he won’t do that.

Romney is a fake, a charlatan, a grifter, if it weren't for the power of his dad and SLC lds Romney would have never amounted to anything.

They picked him, he has been groomed for this run and SLC lds are laying everything on him to fulfill their prophecy.

If Romney is the nominee mormonism will be gutted like a fresh catch with it innards laid out for the birds of the field.

Romney's nomination will destroy what's left of the Republican Party and guarantee a victory of BHO.

Just yesterday I had a first-hand example of how the media --who are the fifth column enemy of We The People-- will destroy Romney. I was discussing the epulican primary rush with someone who touts himself a moderate but leaning toward conservatism and defense of the Constitution. He was trying to make the case that Romney's background made him suitable to fix the economy and reverse Barry Obama's destructive works. I asked him how much he knew about Romney's religion; he of course immediately mouthed the standard 'I don't care about his religious beliefs, it's the economy that matters'. To which I responded with a few more pointed questions, posed as how would this defender of Romney feel about me personally if he discovered the following things about my deeply held religious beliefs:

--If I were a Bishop in a religion like Mormonism, how would that sit?
--If I were of the deeply held belief that the god of the Universe had to earn the attributes to be appointed as the god over this planet, would that be comforting about my religious beliefs?
--If I claimed to be in the same priesthood class with Jesus, as a Melchizedek High Priest, how would that effect my opponents image of my sanity and religious beliefs?
--If my religious beliefs were so deeply held that I freely contributed MILLIONS of my income to the support and furthering of my church in which I held a High Priest status, would the particulars of what my church teaches and has taught and what it was founded upon be of importance?

I then proceeded to detail the founding beliefs of the MormonISM religion, the particulars of the man who founded MormonISM ... and knowing the person with who I was discussing the issues was a 32nd degree Mason, I introduced the particular rituals and garments and handshakes Joe Smith stole from Masonry to establish a 'secret high church' atmosphere for his new religion, which Mitt Romney is absolutely committed to and very active in.

By the time the discussion ended, the fella was shaking his head and agreeing that the media will destroy Mitt Romney so thoroughly in the eyes of everyone not rabidly committed to voting for him that Barry the bassturd will be re-elected as if he was legitimate.

I thought that the left was saving ammo with Romney when he lied about forcing Catholic hospitals in MA to provide contraception.

Mitt said it was a voluntary move on the part of the RC church in MA, when actually Mitt did it by executive action. By saying it was voluntary, he implies that Cardinal O’Malley decided to provide Plan B!

Yet the MSM was oddly quiet and did not amplify this. Since Mitt does not handle face-to-face confrontation well, this may come up in a debate with The One, and Mitt will stumble and stutter.

Obama and the dems want to run against Romney or Santorum, because they will be easy to beat.

Newt can beat Obama....

I strongly doubt it. Unlike Newt and Santorum, Obama will have the resources to fight back. Plus, he'll have the MSM to do much of the heavy lifting for free. Besides in a war of nasty, Obama and his people are better at it than Romney and his people. Mitt has so many skeletons in his closet that by November Republicans will be standing there will with their mouths open in astonishment that they could have possibly nominated this dud. Mitt Romney with his political history and his Mormonism is a target-rich environment for Obama's minions.

SoConPubbie and others have been doing a fine job revealing the true Mitt Romney but unfortunately, too few seem to be listening.

It would please me immensely to see Obamna turned out of office and that could be done with a good Republican candidate--and there's still hope--but we all know that nominating Romney is designed to give Obama four more years.

If that happens, then the quote above is not necessarily bad. Under those circumstances, it would be a good thing. If the Republican Party allows that to happen it would no longer represent us and its demise would be good. Perhaps then we could build a party that supports consevative values.

It would be the height of irony if a Mormon (Mitt)descended from polygamists would be the destruction of the GOP - a party founded in part to fight Mormon polygamy.

Good for you. As we have seen a lot here on FR this year, people who started out with “Mitt’s religion doesn’t matter at all” are starting to realize it does matter once they find out what the LDS really believe.
