(Reuters) - Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney broke with Republican orthodoxy on Friday by saying he believes that humans are responsible, at least to some extent, for climate change.
"I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that," he told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire.
"It's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors."

Actually, the earth has been cooling since about 1994. In fact, there is some belief that we may be entering another mini ice-age, because the sun spots have been at a minimum, similar to the “Maunder Minimum” period in the 1800’s.
Casper Milquetoast strikes again.
What an idiot. This guy will be in bunker mode from day one in the White House. The balless wonder.
Even the batcrap lunatics gave up on “global warming,” b/c the data shows the world cooling since 199_ whatever, and they can’t lie their way out of that!
This clown is completely braindead. It’s like McLame and Omoslem had a baby in the Lincoln Bedroom.
What a damn fool.
Oy. Just keep your mouth closed, Mitt. Say as little as possible. And you may have a chance of beating Obama.....but I doubt it.
Wonder who I should write in if this s.o.b. manages to get nominated.
He has the backbone of a chocolate eclair.
Not only has global mean temperature been flat for a decade, but look at the scale. It is not even a full degree Centigrade peak to peak.
I agree.
Romney is pandering to the extreme far left with this baloney.
I've noticed that, too. Here in the northeast, the last couple of weeks it's been somewhat warmer than it was about two months ago.
His nose is getting longer.
This is why conservatives don’t like Romney. He’s a socialist to the core.
But the Repub establishment assures us that— compared to Obama— with Romney we’ll at least get a reach around!
Could the Republicans have designed a more awful candidate?
This single biggest issue to rally the nation around is Obamacare, and our side chooses a guy who created his own version.
Jesus can’t come soon enough.
I really, really, really hope that Romney’s statements here are blasted all over the remaining states by his opponents.
This is clearly the final straw with this guy. He’ll NEVER get my vote in a Primary or a General Election - ever.
Something that Newt and Mitt can agree on. Newt was fighting for a carbon tax way back in 1989 and how could we forget the much more recent global warming couch date he had with pe-lousy?
So true. Good thing I wasn't drinking anything when I read this.
Please, Freepers voting in the next few primaries, consider this man as our nominee and vote sensibly!
I know, I have written on Climate Physics for a while now. Though I must say I have not published anything on it lately.
The Greenhouse effect is an equilibrium, and this was proven by Dr. Ferenc Miskolczi former NASA contractor. This equilibrium adjusts to the incoming energy of the sun and cannot be effected permanently by anything so small as mankind. A single large volcanic eruption can put more greenhouse effecting compounds into the atmosphere in a day than most countries, including developed ones like ours, can in a year. The point being, the system adjusts increasing or decreasing atmospheric humidity levels. It is why life on earth even exists. Otherwise we would have fried (or frozen) long ago due to changes in the sun’s output long ago.
There is no way for mankind to overwhelm that equilibrium. It is supported by 300 million cubic miles of freely available water - which could have theoretically caused a runaway greenhouse effect millions, if not billions of years ago. The best convincing evidence we have is the fact that even with massive asteroids killing off dinosaurs, the climate STILL returned to equilibrium. Mankind just is not relevant enough to make a difference.
A “Flashback” would have helped my blood pressure.
I was ready for the face palm again but I clicked on link and this was the same story from last summer.
