ha! I guess King runs prog. talk as The Pulse on 620 WZON and also FM 103.1...Rush must have gone to 103.9/101.3 WVOM, which also runs Howie. Ah, here it is:

Nothing sweeter than a crazy lib petition being ceremoniously ignored. Poor, poor babies...and they worked so hard on it, too.

Not everyone here in Maine is a moonbat.

We elected a TEA Party guy as governor in 2010, Paul LePage. He is one of the most conservative governors in America.

Also in 2010, the GOP gained control of the Maine House and the Maine Senate for the first time since the early 1960’s.

So there is hope. Our federal office holders leave something to be desired, however.

Right now, I’m listening to Rush on WVOM, an FM radio station in Bangor, Maine. The same station carries Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.

I see gray-haired middle-aged women here in Maine driving a Prius from time to time. Some of them have Obama bumper stickers. I also see conservative men driving pickups with gun racks.

The logging industry (lumber, pulp, firewood) is big business in Maine.

I once saw a bumper sticker which said,

“Opposed to logging? Then wipe your a$$ with plastic.”

Except the two dollar signs on the bumper sticker actually had two “ss’s”.

I heard a number of Conservative Mainers wanted to kick out the 3 or 4 counties surrounding Portland and rename it “North Massachusetts”?

Please see my post # 45.

As for Snowe and Collins, they keep getting re-elected because the dims run ultra-left wing moonbats against them. Snowe and Collins end up looking conservative in comparison, which they are not.

We also have, per capita, one of the highest numbers of National Guard members serving in Iraq and Afghanistan of any state since 2003. I’m pretty sure these men and women have a full set of chromosomes, as did the 51 servicemembers from Maine who have been killed in the War on Terror.

LOL!

People in northern Maine have long referred to the southern most part of Maine as “North Massachusetts.” The problem is the fact that the southern-most part of Maine is within commuting distance to Boston.

Some of them re-locate here, and bring their lib voting patterns with them....just like when New Yorkers move to Florida, Angelinos move from L.A. to Arizona and Nevada, northeasterners who re-locate to North Carolina, etc.

Thanks for the “Bert & I” stuff, RR. Brought back memories of fun times.

Grew up listening to them, Bob & Ray and real comedians that could make you laugh without resorting to 4-letter words. Not to mention Arnie “Woo Woo” Ginsburg and the best radio comedian out there, Don Kent!

I had also heard that Maine has unfortunately become something of a magnet for the dependency class. The ratio of generosity of welfare benefits vs. the cost of living makes moving there attractive to them.

I seem to recall the Kennebec as the 'dividing line'...

I see this issue blowing up in the face of the petitioners. If I want to listen to Rush Limbaugh they have no right to tell me I can’t which is what they are doing. The radio station is going to lose listeners and advertising. So are all these Mainers going to let these people stomp on their rights?

Yeah I bought a Best of Bert and I CD when up at the Maine State Museum in Augusta. I think it used to be advertised (the old records and cassettes) in Yankee magazine a lot.

And of course for those who know our history, and saw the jokes about “North Massachusetts”, Maine used to be part of the Bay State until the Miss. compromise of 1820.
Wiki.:
Secessionist sentiment in Maine was stoked during the War of 1812 when Massachusetts pro-British merchants opposed the war and refused to defend Maine from British invaders. In 1819, Massachusetts agreed to permit secession if voters in Maine approved. Due to these considerations and rapid population growth, in 1820 Maine voted to secede from Massachusetts. The secession and formation of the state of Maine as the 23rd state occurred on March 15, 1820 as part of the Missouri Compromise, which geographically limited the spread of slavery and enabled the admission to statehood of Missouri the following year, while keeping a balance between slave and free states.
