Montgomery, AL - Alabama State University released a new presidential poll Friday, showing a major surge for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
The poll asked 416 likely Republican voters for their opinion over the past several days.
Gingrich is seen to have 20.7% support, up from about 13% a month ago.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who had surged from 9% in February to 22% last week, saw his support wane to 16.7%.
The nation-wide front runner Mitt Romney had been flat between February in March, but now is nipping at Gingrich's heels with 20.2%.
A significant chunk of those asked, however, still have not settled on a candidate. A whopping 27.4% of the respondents are still undecided.
Rick's guys posted this poll yesterday- when Rick was leading. But---not today.
Newt will rise again.
Undecided 27.4 with less than a week. Newt finished real strong in Tenn. He needs to be busy with lots of help GOTV.
Hey, I knew you would cover what I don’t get. LoL.
“whopping 27.4% still undecided”
HELP DECIDE THEM!!
The next 72 hours are crucial to Newts campaign, please, everyone, do everything you can for Newt through the weekend and Monday. Making calls is very very important, and today the calls were about 10% more pro-Newt than they were yesterday, and we need to keep building on that.
some of the phoners are exhausted, and even if you just make 10 calls EACH DAY, it would give someone a little break. Today the phone banks were jammed, but the weekend is when everyone tends to have other things to do. PLEASE HELP NEWT!!
From Newt 2012: friday
Field and Phone Leaders, CALLING ALL HANDS ON DECK!!
Our national phone team has successfully called through the original 18,000 volunteer sign-ups. This has resulted in a refined list of volunteer prospects for all 50 states. In 3 weeks our national call team has increased by 300%, or 50 new people per week.
Our increased call capacity will help us now begin to make calls into Super Tuesday states or those close by that can assist and or deploy to active states.
... YOU CAN NOW CHOOSE THE STATE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CALL
http://newtsnetwork.com/ (click Make the CAll in upper right hand corner)
NOTE: The list filters itself by time zones. It will not show you California at 10am Eastern Time because that is 7am Pacific Time and too early to call there. Once a states call list opens up the state name will be added to the dropdown list for you to call. (And in the reverse, Eastern Time Zones will be removed from the list as the night wears on.)
This new reality will enable us to be highly flexible in how we operate and target prospects for GOTV and or volunteer recruitment.
Please disseminate this information to your call teams and volunteer lists.
Thank you
Santo has met the event horizon’s gravity hole.
The upward trend is all Newt’s.
Once again, we see another alarming example here where Mitt Romney, for Christ’s sake, is well within reach of pulling off what would be a MAJOR upset by WINNING A DEEP SOUTHERN STATE. Yet all I continue to see here on this site is the idiotic neverending back-and-forth chest-thumping between the Gingrich and Santorum camps while completely ignoring the giant elephant in the room that a Romney win in any one of these Deep South states next Tuesday would essentially put him well on his way to wrapping up the Republican nomination. Come on... WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!
History will be made when the first modern brokered convention gets a win. A half-eaten moonpie can beat Obama. Correct me if I am wrong but 1948,1952,1976 were all convention votes. This is how we keep the damn media from picking our candidate. This year is a wide-open convention to get that damn ideologue marxist out.
If Newt wins in AL & MS, he becomes the new non-Romney front runner.
Boom goes the dynamite.
report from the ground in MS... PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE CALLS FOR NEWT EVERYBODY, PLEASE, ALL WEEKENDS LONG!

Friends, I have spent the better part of the last two days with a tireless and inspirational man. This Newt campaign has really been an honor. He is warm, intelligent and cares for America like nobody I have ever seen. He sincerely bleeds red, white and blue. I saw crowds fom 250 to nearly 1000 in the last 48 hours. These folks have been glued to each word and I saw inspiration in their eyes.
I’ve chatted with Newt and he truly is grateful for each and every soul in every encounter. I’m thrilled to see that we are winning here and Alabama. I hope it continues with all my heart. These other candidates are fine men but Newt was hand crafted for this unique challenge that our country now faces. I truly pray that Americans get this one right. Please do consider joining us this Sunday night. You will be amazed by this walking little chunk of history that we call Newt. ;)
March 13 comes up quickly.
The Lion of 2012 will rise.
“For the righteous are bold as a lion. Prov 28:1
Go Newt!
what an awful picture - not that I like Romney, but the MSM sucks.
WOLF: Mitt beat Rick, but Newt beat Barack
Only one Republican has made Obama squirm
