Rasmussen Reports first Republican primary survey in Mississippi shows former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney leading his closest competitors by eight points.
A new statewide telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary Voters in the Magnolia State shows Romney with 35% of the vote, while former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich each draw support from 27%. Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with six percent (6%). One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
However, when the race is narrowed down to just the top two national front-runners, its Romney 46%, Santorum 44%.
Mississippi, along with Alabama, will hold its primary this coming Tuesday. Sixty percent (60%) of the states primary voters are certain of their vote, while 36% say they could still change their minds.
Regardless of preference, 72% of Mississippi primary voters expect Romney to be the eventual nominee. Only 14% feel Santorum will win the nomination, while six percent (6%) say the same of Gingrich.

At this point, I honestly don't care WHO wins between Santorum and Gingrich and I sure hope and pray the two camps will consider putting their differences aside, joining forces, and launching a barrage of negative ads against Romney throughout the weekend or else I fear this primary race could be over. Just sayin'.
Hum? I thought there was a poll a few minutes ago that said Gingrich was up by 10.
Have you ever been to Mississippi? If you had, you wouldn’t believe a word of this. I’m not from here, but I’ve lived here of-and-on from 2001, and I’ll eat a pint of kimchee if Milt wins this state.
Rass better put out a corrected poll by Tuesday because this poll is bupkis.
Let’s pretend this poll is true. It does make sense possibly in that Romney’s campaign has been very adept at destroying the enthusiasm of the base. It’s like a snake slowly strangling its victim.
Newt will win Mississippi. No worries
Yours is about the 3rd or 4th time today that this poll has been posted.

I really do hope you’re right about this! I can’t tell you how much I’m hoping Rasmussen got this one wrong.
I know. :-)
Rasmussen threw Fox News and the GOP-E a bone with this poll.
That was ARG, I think. Willard has started running the same ads in MS as he did in Florida, one particularly filthy one about Newt resigning in disgrace. It is just horrendous. Can someone please tell me why the so-called conservative media don’t call this excuse for a human being on his filth and lies. Other candidates, Santorum or Newt, get ahead and he comes in and dumps his crap all over the place.
Oh, and tonight, Beck, like a lot of people predicted on Free Republic, started his it’s-time-to-wrap-it-up and go with romney schtick. This is so scripted.
Even my left wing local news station (at times) out of West Palm is reporting Newt is ahead in MS.
from a friend of mine on the ground in MS...
Friends, I have spent the better part of the last two days with a tireless and inspirational man. This Newt campaign has really been an honor. He is warm, intelligent and cares for America like nobody I have ever seen. He sincerely bleeds red, white and blue. I saw crowds fom 250 to nearly 1000 in the last 48 hours. These folks have been glued to each word and I saw inspiration in their eyes.
Ive chatted with Newt and he truly is grateful for each and every soul in every encounter. Im thrilled to see that we are winning here and Alabama. I hope it continues with all my heart. These other candidates are fine men but Newt was hand crafted for this unique challenge that our country now faces. I truly pray that Americans get this one right. Please do consider joining us this Sunday night. You will be amazed by this walking little chunk of history that we call Newt. ;)
PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE CALLS FOR NEWT EVERYBODY, PLEASE, ALL WEEKENDS LONG!

Myth’s the bankster’s right hand sock puppet. (Obama’s on their left hand.)
Thank you for sharing.
I will be donating again tomorrow.

I didn’t realize that. That said, I haven’t seen anyone else other than myself even acknowledge this poll in the numerous polling threads currently posted in the “Breaking News” and “Front Page News” sections. Everyone seems so pre-occupied arguing over whether Gingrich or Santorum will (or should) win while ignoring the giant elephant in the room... and that is Romney quietly appears to be moving within striking distance of first place in every current Alabama or Mississippi poll I’ve seen.
what made me smile was when he called Newt our “walking little chunk of history”... oh my. :)
Well, we all knew or should have known that Beck would endorse Romney eventually.

Really? Where and by whom???
So much for the “Southern Strategy”.

I am on a Scotch bender listening to this on my Hi Fi speakers. Bose made great stuff back in the day.
What really concerns me is that I, too, believe beck had this in mind all along, but what does that say about Santorum’s supporters, who are now going to go along with Beck, and believe that he truly wants the best for the country, and so support Romney. Santorum supporters are heavy heavy into Beck, and for months he has been telling them he supports Rick.
I lend no credence to this poll. Newt ate Willard’s lunch here in South Carolina, and Mississippi is both more conservative and hard-core Southern. For instance, Mississippi has nothing like South Carolina’s share of moderate-to-liberal Northeastern Republican transplants clustered around Myrtle Beach and the rest of the coast.
The only innocent explanation I can think of for this evidently fallacious poll is that it overrelied on Republican primary voters having landlines, while Mississippi is badly off and most likely a very high proportion of its residents rely on cell phones alone.
I was a Santorum supporter. I’ve listen to Beck. I’m not supporting mittens. I’ll never support a mormon. What’s the problem?
Nominee for “In parenthesis title of the day” Award!
I am just very glad to hear that. Because the santorum supporters I know, also swear by Beck, and do and read just about everything he says. It would be great if they broke with him on this issue, even if it was to support Santorum, though I would prefer Newt. I don’t know how they will react because Beck just said this tonight, he may have said it on his radio program, don’t know. I think he is going crazy little by little though... he was absolutely vitrolic towards Newt. It was something to behold.
Personally I regret we ever gave them the vote.
Shame on you, I wouldn’t eat something that contained babies—not even on a bet.

:p
I am a huge Beck fan, however I am supporting Newt!!!
NO Newt; NO win..
Roflpimp!!!
Bump to that!!
Okay, thanks :) Now I am starting to worry less, I must just know an inordinate number of beck zombies, or maybe this will be the first thing they’ve disagreed with him on, and they aren’t as zombie as I think. I don’t like Beck at all, so I am probably expecting the worst, too.
I watched his show a few times. He always appeared to be hopped up on caffeine to me.
These are the same folks who ousted Gene Taylor because he wasn’t conservative enough.
I don’t live there now, but I go back at least four times a year.
I don’t believe it, either.
I think he is going crazy little by little though... he was absolutely vitrolic towards Newt. It was something to behold.

Yes, I think Beck is losing it and I think the GBTV venture is going to eat his lunch. The money that is being poured into it-and in so many directions- is breathtaking.
Beck has been mentioning money on his GBTV a bit more, too. It comes out in subtle places but that leads me to believe it is in the front of his mind and causing anxiety. (for instance, he mentions his partner/backer told him he wouldn’t be getting a paycheck for a long time)
I think it was Thursday on Beck’s radio program, Beck really got pretty wound up and I think I detected his sidekicks getting a little uncomfortable.
I also wonder who becks silent partner is, I suspect it is Jon Huntsman Sr.. Huntsman financed his sons presidential run and he backed Romney when he stepped out of the race. Interesting, too...he is selling his alatial ski house in Park City, Utah, for right at 50 million.
Jon Huntman Sr., who has an estimated net worth of almost a billion, down from several billion, is not prepared to budge on the propertys price tag.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2112205/Jon-Huntsman-Snr-Utah-mansion-I-wanted-build-exclusive-home-America.html
I’m probably chasin’ shadows but I find it all interesting. I’m stuck with my years pre-paid subscription to GBTV, so I watch when it is watchable. Beck is seeming more and more like the character in Network.
Is it possible for polls like Rasmussen to have their own agenda? Are they trying to influence the voters at this point? You know, like...Mitt’s the inevitable one, why fight it, let’s get this over with so the Republican nominee is known and can therefore fight Obama with two fists instead of a limp wrist?
I hear it a bunch of times today from Dick Morris and from Charles Krautheimer and even from Glenn Beck. I think the Mitt win is a fix. I hate the Mitt, but I don’t live in MS or TX.
There is a reason why Fox cut him loose. They don’t do that for just anybody.
surprises me...most of my kin are Newties
u eat a pint a keemchee and I’m not even going on your threads
whew
Oh lordy you made me burst out laughing! Too funny!
These other candidates are fine men but Newt was hand crafted for this unique challenge.....

BULLSHIT!!! Mitt Romney is NOT a “fine” man. He is a low-life, scum bag who would cut his mother’s throat for a vote. He has caused my opinion of Mormons to plummet so low, it will never be the same. If he is the nominee and gets his butt handed to him in the GE by Obozo, that will be a bitter/sweet night for me.
I can’t find the comment but Newt said in an interview something like—It bothered me a bit, some people at FOX were downright gleeful, laughing because they thought my campaign was over. (after the Greek vacation and team members resigned and the Tiffany credit line story hit)
If you look back at the the timeline— Newt announced 5-11-11, he took 2 weeks off and was back to campaigning L.A. Ca, the evening of 6/12/11. It was the Republican Jewish Coalition summer bash.
Gingrich was on Hannity a few times shortly thereafter. Beck’s last day at FOX was June 30th. Can you imagine anyone at FOX who would laugh in Gingrichs’ face and be downright gleeful? Well, anybody but Beck.
Beck had nothing to lose, either. I would place money on the ‘some people’ Newt mentioned being ‘somebody’ and his name is Glenn Beck. I can’t think of another that would be THAT unprofessional and crude.
Beck tries to hide it but he is very jealous and thin-skinned. He is also bad at stealing ideas and throwing people under the bus. He swiped ideas from Mike Church, Church never said it but I sure will! (he also bumped Church out of his time slot) Mark Levin has Beck’s number.
I could list a several times that Beck has used and pitched people.(smile Santorum-tag you’re it) I have come to realize Beck is a lying, back-biting big baby. He reminds me of Baby Huey. It was sad for me to wake up because I was a huge Beck fan. It started before I was a Gingrich supporter.

Yeah - what you said. I came here in '86 and it is now my home. More common sense and conservative values in a southern MS school teacher than in a NY Tea Partier and that's saying something. Me and mine voting Newt on Tuesday.
Don’t forget how far off the polls were in TN. I don’t think they know how to extrapolate Southerners.
Mitt getting 35% in Mississippi. Nope I dont believe that poll for 1 Second.
I’ve always said that Santorum will endorse Romney at some point. Santorum reminds me so much of Huckabee during the last election. I think he is a spoiler.
