Mitt Romney's weirdness means he can't connect with American voters (Mitt's bizarre bug-squash...)
Telegraph UK ^ | 3/10/12 | Tim Stanley

-snip-

Romney delivers every emotion – anger, humour, sadness, elation – in the same giddy voice of a carpet salesman who’s only got ten seconds before you close the door in his face.

On Friday, he swung down South and affected love for the region. He called himself an “unofficial Southerner” because he's eaten grits and learned out to say “y’all.” Then there was a truly bizarre moment when, in the middle of admitting that he knows nothing about agriculture, he broke away mid-sentence to crush a bug beneath his foot. He said, “Oh look at that, look at that little guy, there. Got him.”

He kind of reminds me of some kind of space alien pretending to be a human being. Everything about him is contrived. For the life of me I can’t understand why anyone would vote for him.

It started the day he was born into a really weird cult.

I have heard nothing from my fellow Southerners but disdain for Romney since his “y’all” blunder....It reminds folks of Hilary’s, “I ain’t no way tired”...Don’t talk down to your audience Mitt....we don’t look up to you to allow you to look down on us.
I bet he insisted his manservant dispose of those shoes after his “true southerner” came out.

He called himself an “unofficial Southerner” because he's eaten grits and learned out to say “y’all.”

And he called them "cheesey grits." Maybe that's their name in Mississippi, but in GA we call them simply "cheese grits."

Obama will turn Romney into a national laughingstock!

I can't stand the stupid nervous laugh he does before answering any question posed to him... drives me nuts. It also suggests that the guy is just not that comfortable in average everyday social settings, which I do consider to be weird.

But what's weirder still is his cut throat manner of attempting to vanquish his political opponents on the Republican side; here is a guy willing to spend millions relentlessly attacking them, but other that stating “he is out of his league” refuses to state anything derogatory or even negative about the jug-eared socialist a$$ clown who has systematically set out to destroy this country.

I understand your point, but the consistently frustrating thing is, they do it to themselves and make it easy for the LMS to jump all over it.

It's weird that after all these years of campaigning, Romney is seriously gaff prone. It's like he's learned nothing. At least just to keep his mouth shut.

Does the leftwing media believe Obama's "third world" values and the pestilence it has brought to the White House make him better able "to connect to Americans" - if they didn't cover-up for him, and the GOP wasn't afraid to respond in kind?

Not to defend Romney, but the leftwing media will twist anything and everything about ANY GOP CANDIDATE into a negative to construct a disagreeable caricature to hammer Americans with non-stop - using everything weapon in their arsenal of propaganda. All while covering up and glorifying Obama!

Whether it will be "weird" (translation: Mormon) Romney, "fanatical" (translation: fundamentalist) Christian Santorum or maritally "unfaithful" (translation: politically untrustworthy/ruthless/heartless) Gingrich, they will all be judged unable "to connect with Americans."

FReepers or candidates jumping on the leftwing band in such attacks have already surrendered the November election - by allowing the leftwing media to dictate the terms. Terms that arm the left and disarm its opponents.

To win in November Americans and the GOP candidate's campaign must attack the media's bias and answer media caricatures by fighting fire with fire. They will not win by empowering the Media, by joining in it these attacks in the GOP primary when it favors their candidate.
