...."I have had grits before," he told a crowd at a Mobile cafe on Saturday morning, making a not-so-subtle knock on former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's joking admission to an audience that he was starting to like the favorite Southern food.
....The former House Speaker contended that was evidence of a larger problem facing his rival: "I figure if you don't understand grits, there's a pretty high likelihood that you don't understand the rest of the South, either."
...."We have momentum, but we haven't won," he told a crowd at his second cafe stop of the day - Mama Lou's in Robertsdale. "We still have to go out and finish the sale, we have to make sure, particularly in a county like this that has such a huge Republican vote, we need to make sure that everybody understands the opportunity."

At Mama Lou's restaurant in Robertsdale, Gingrich rapped Obama as a big-government liberal.
"I want to pit unemployment and food stamps against jobs and paychecks," he told an audience of about 200 from the restaurant's front porch."......

"ATLANTA It wasn't so long ago that the Republican Party in Georgia was just an afterthought, and Democrats were in firm control of all the levers of state government. Back then, Newt Gingrich and other die-hard GOP stalwarts ventured across the state with the far-fetched message that Republicans could reverse the tide.
Now with commanding majorities in the Statehouse and control of all statewide offices, Gingrich is hoping his vision for how the GOP could overcome decades of Democratic dominance in Georgia will pay dividends. He sorely needs a victory when his home state votes Tuesday, along with a big chunk of its 76 delegates, to prove his stumbling presidential bid has staying power.
Many Republican figures in Georgia still credit him with championing conservative policies, outlining a framework for what a GOP majority in the state could accomplish and broadcasting talking points to a generation of up-and-coming conservative leaders. He's also applauded for lobbying conservative Democrats, like then-Rep. Nathan Deal, to switch parties.
"Everyone else was trying to lose as slowly as possible, and to die with dignity at the Alamo. He was talking confidently that the Republican majority in Georgia, in the South and nationally was right around the corner," said Ralph Reed, a veteran Georgia GOP operative who founded the national Faith and Freedom Coalition. "On the one hand it was crazy, but on the other it was just the most exciting thing you've ever heard.".....................In Ga., Gingrich helped build conservative base
ah, how nice.
hopefully he doesn’t tucker himself out from all the campaigning

The only thing missing from this video is the lullaby theme.
I saw that video a few days back and was wondering how long it would take to appear here. LOL
This ****s getting ridiculous
How can you win Oh or Pa if you havent had scrapple? a panini or perogies?
None of them has ever had city mock chicken
How do you win Ky or Tn if you never ate burgoo?
How you gonna win Tx if you never had an armadillo egg?
Am I watching an election or the food network?
Romney can eat any damned thing he wants and say “y’all” twenty times a day.
His sh@t isn’t going to play in the south. Period.
No, it isn’t. The political version of Ted Bundy is recognized for what he is. We will NOT be getting in the car with him.
Dear God I hope you’re right.
Who cares if you’re a southerner or northerner.
They both need to quit this garbage of regionalism.
You’re trying to be president of the UNITED states...
That’s nothing like playing kissy face with Babs Boxer and Hilly among a ton of other stuff:
“Senator Santorum in His Own Words”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELbCuLEe7Sw
LoL.
Romney can kiss my grits.
Why doesn't Newt leave the divisional politics to Obama.
Besides, Newt sounds like where he came from: Pennsylvania
Because Georgia was such a liberal state to begin with?
And because now it's solidly Republican, unlike all those other Southern states where Newt didn't work his magic?
What in the world does that mean? By all accounts, Newt actually had to move right from his Rockefeller Republican roots when he ran for his House seat in GA. It was held by a Conservative Rat. By his own admission, he was a Rockefeller guy.

You Newt people are just hell bent on slamming Rick whan there isn't even any logic too it. Do you people really think this is helping your cause? Can you cite to me where Rick "Sat on his laurels" complaining like you are claiming here? Very cheap shot.
When was the last time he actually lived in Georgia?
I wish they would report the candidates accurately and say we have 3 running from “Virginia” or “Maryland” and one running from Massachusetts.
Last time we elected a candidate because he was a Southerner, we got Jimmah Carter.
I’m tired of identity politics. Just give me a conservative.
I Like tasty food! (not untasty food)
Go AL!
Go MS!
Go Newt!
You got that right. A yankee trying to talk grits ain’t going to get elected in the deep south.
I bet you have one of those sweater vests and have a ridiculously high self opinion of yourself for no apparent reason too, right?
They can’t take it, can they?
So they must distort beyond recognition, while they deny plain truth staring at them.
A man of vast accomplishment, but some will only say, but what of “the baggage” and try to ignore away the accomplishment.
As to the South, when people from elsewhere demand that a southerner quit caring about the south, my answer is that southerners care about it, and don’t care that you don’t.
But the last time I checked, southerners were still a big, and very important, part of the United States.
Their votes are precious to me, as they had long been downtrodden before they rose again and must be reckoned with.
For the nation’s survivival and the defeat of Obama and pals, may Newt do the same.

What is with the “High Opinion” remark and what is it based on? Why is it you folks are always on the personal attacks the supporters of Rick or Rick himself? Yes I have the official Rick sweater BTW along with about 6 or 7 other sweater vests. I live in the NE where it get cold.
I’m keeping track of Romney’s robo-calls = 16 thus far.
Most folks might get tired of that nuisance.
Lord knows, I am.
Going to Newt Gingrich’s Rally in Brandon, Mississippi, at the City Hall tomorrow night!
Looking forward to hearing all about it!
I hope this driver doesn’t fall through He’s my first friend here and I made him promise! I’m letting him drive my car. There’s no way I could find the place. It’s at 8:00PM tomorrow night!
I can understand you supporting him though, sweater vest people need to stick together, I bet 95% of people who wear sweater vests are voting for him.
I got lost the other morning and couldn’t find the Jackson place so had to return home in tears, once I figured out how to get off the road to Memphis!
Hope he gets you there safely, Onyx. Are you going to get the chance to meet Newt?
16 beats me. :^)
I got a dozen robocalls from Romney. I only remember the first one a hit job. PMSNBC News Brokejaw stating that Newt was “guilty of ethics charges” by Congress.
As we all know now, it was all bogus charges.
I hope so!
Yep, I got that one too. One had a local number to call afterward, so I called it to complain and to tell them to remove my name and number.
One from Newt was a internal poll. Thank goodness I didn’t know that until afterward! I answered Newt all the way!
Four robo calls from Newt. The internal poll, one from Rick Perry, one from JC Watts and one from Newt Gingrich.
Unless something truly unexpected happens at the convention, I plan on voting for Newt twice this year.
Hey Newt... you are getting my vote and the vote of everyone that I have talked with... we will deliver Mississippi to you TUESDAY!
LLS
>> I (living in Florida) listened to Marjk Steyn day-after-day ... while he performed a hatchet-job on Newt Gingrich ...
Agreed. He was annoying, but still entertaining in his jocular way. I did tune out, however.
Its a shame Yankees wont vote for the man. I’m sure newt would make a great president.
>> stating that Newt was guilty of ethics charges by Congress.
Because he bucked the establishment. Exactly the guy we want!
Isn't Adleson the one who said he is fully willing to support Romney when Newt flames out? I also seem to recall one of his people saying they were only pushing Newt to make sure Rick didn't beat Romney. I know of no Romney supporter pushing Rick. The insurance guy backing Ricks PAC is 100% behind him. Maybe you should get your facts straight instead of making things up.

Great news!
Our idiot governor endorsed Romney.
I knew he would. I can’t stand either.
Holy cow, you must have been SO disappointed. But tomorrow will make up for it. Tell Newt FR is behind him all the way!
The establishment and the democrats fear Newt Gingrich.
This primary has been all about stopping Newt Gingrich, but he said he’s not dropping out.
So there.
GO NEWT!
I’m a Pennsylvanian and voting for my homegrown Yank Newt. ;)
Newton Leroy McPherson was born at the Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on June 17, 1943. His mother, Kathleen “Kit” McPherson (née Daugherty; 19252003), and father, Newton Searles McPherson (19231970),[citation needed] married in September 1942, when she was 16 and McPherson was 19. The marriage fell apart within days.
In 1946, his mother married her step-brother, Army officer Robert Gingrich (19251996), who adopted Newt.[11]
Gingrich was raised in Hummelstown (near Harrisburg) and on military bases where Robert Gingrich was stationed.
In 1961, Gingrich graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia.
They have for a long time...
As a result of the 1990 United States Census, Georgia picked up an additional seat for the 1992 U.S. House elections. However, the Democratic-controlled Georgia General Assembly eliminated the district that Gingrich represented, splitting its territory among three neighboring districts. Much of the southern portion of Gingrich's district, including his home in Carrollton, was drawn into the Columbus-based 3rd District, represented by five-term Democrat Richard Ray. At the same time, the Assembly created a new, heavily Republican 6th District in Fulton and Cobb counties in the wealthy northern suburbs of Atlanta-an area that Gingrich had never represented. However, Gingrich sold his home in Carrollton and moved to Marietta in the new 6th.
:)
Thank you very much.
Your governor endorsed Romney? That’s horrible.
My governor (Scott, I live in Florida) didn’t endorse anybody. My real regret was that Rubio, whom I liked a lot and helped elect, basically supported Romney. He didn’t actually endorse anybody, but he shot Gingrich down with Hispanics. I think he wants to be Romney’s VP...bless his heart.
Romney probably won’t be the candidate, and if he is, he most surely won’t win the general election. Bad choice for all the idiots who endorsed Romney.
Yes, Newt is resisting the GOP-E. Newt’s very confident he will sweep Mississippi and Alabama. :-)
