Compton City Councilwoman Janna Zurita owes her Hispanic last name to a grandmother from Spain, whom she never met. Zurita considers her mother black and said her father wants to be black even though he looks Latino.
Armed with 2010 census data, a network of attorneys is increasingly targeting local governments from cities and school boards to hospital and community college districts for not reflecting the demographics of their constituents.
While the dispute in Compton, where Zuritas race was under question, pitted Latino residents against the citys traditionally black leadership, other cases seek to increase minority representation on elected boards that are dominated by whites.

THIS RACIAL MEDDLING CRAP is what’s killing America!
Stop distracting from the core issue of discrimination against the blind in pilot hiring...
Obama does not reflect the demographics of the constituents.
I’ve been to the Compton Town Center, believe it or not. The store clerks are mostly latino. And I would prefer to do business in Compton. The city taxes are low, especially with the city inspector’s office charging low rates compared to corrupt cities in Socal such as Vernon or Bell. Just make sure you get out of there by sundown.
It’s Californicate. They have lots of money and even more lawyers so it shouldn’t be a real problem sort the problem out. For those in Californicate that are thinking of leaving for other states, leave the Californicate welfare mentality there when you leave. Californicate has brought this insanity on itself....repeat....brought it upon themselves!
To be absolutely fair election boards should ask for a fully sequenced DNA genome from all candidates.
Do they have a sign to tell you to get out by sundown ... like a public service sign advising you that you take your life in your own hands after sundown?
The Black dominated government of the US must be legally replaced.
If the “boards” are dominated by whites, that’s about the only thing left that is...I’m thinking about selling all me TV’s as the entire channel spectrum has turned into BET.
It was written in ebonics, so I had the sign translated by one of the homeys..
These things will heat up as Hispanics displace blacks everywhere; the blacks will make some noise and demand token positions.
I just watched 2001: A Space Odyssey with my kids. Every single actor (total maybe 12) was White (except the Moochelle-lookalikes in the opening). Will such a film be banned in the future by the FCC?
ok, I am confused. Anyone who can garner the support and meets the min requirements can run, so if you want more of a particular (race) person, why not just run them as a candidate?

Come on now.
There are plenty of whites on TV, mostly the weak/cowardly/corrupt/evil/hate-filled white Christian male in juxtaposition to superior characters, almost always in the privileged racial and religious “minorities”.

Yep, with Spike Lee as FCC Commissioner ca. 2016.
Not to mention all those classic Honky flicks from Hollywood’s Golden era.
My aunt grew up in Compton and remembered it as a nice place to live, although the Long Beach Earthquake hit it particularly hard. Some time after my aunt moved to San Bernardino County, future First Lady Barbara Bush lived with her husband George and son George W on Myrrh and Santa Fe, a few blocks from where my aunt lived. In her memoirs, she described Compton as "lovely." The home where the Bushes lived was razed sometime after 2002.
Those colored people seem to always be causing problems in our society.
Last December I was in a bookstore looking for a kid's book to give to the granddaughter of a friend of mine, and noticed that one book which was probably already around when I was a kid (or not much later) had been reissued with a certain percentage of the children shown as black. I don't remember if any were shown as Hispanic. I guess they didn't want to inflict emotional trauma on black kids who might be read a story which had only white kids in it.
