What was the argument about?
I can’t say the so-called former seal is an idiot and I cannot say the governor was wrong to call him such with details.

WILLIAM BROWN: My question for you, governor, is please consider veteran students and [unclear] ike myself, here in South Jersey.
GOV. CHRIS CHRISTIE: Heres whats going to happen. Rutgers is going to merge with Rowan, and heres why: What Im doing is providing other opportunities for a bigger and better university.
CHRISTIE: If you decide what you want to do is put on a show today, let me tell you something, I can go back and forth with you as much as you want. And let me tell you something, after you graduate from law school, you conduct yourself like that in a court room, your rear-ends gonna get thrown in jail, idiot.
CHRISTIE: You know, I tried to be patient with the guy. Every time I tried to answer, he started yelling over me again. Damn, man, Im governor, could you just shut up for a second?
Cheers,
OLA
“Damn, man, Im governor, could you just shut up for a second?”
Reminds me of ‘I won.’
ps. Damn, man, put down the knife ... fork and spoon.
I don’t think that Christie does himself any favors by such outbursts.
No guarantee seals are not political creatures. Christie merely tried to “explain” to this young man that boorish behavior in a courtroom, should he pass the bar, would have him thrown out or found in contempt.
Hard to believe that’s a complete transcript of the confrontation.
It gets him points, when he wisely chooses his targets. I’m not going to necessarily hold it against him, since he’s from New Jersey and that’s just how things are done.
But I’d have to know what the issue was and the sides before I could say anybody is right.
Damn, man, Im governor, could you just shut up for a second?”
Well the thing is these press conferences interrupt his grazing
It sounds like the veteran was looking for a deal, because he’s a veteran and was trying to make the governor look bad. That’s what it sounds like to me.
If I am correct, I’m on the governor’s side on this.
“Reminds me of I won.”

I like that!
Gotta remember that...

It appears that William Brown is a Democrat. Perhaps he was there only to make a scene. Who knows? But the response from Christie makes him look like a bully. If his mind is made up, why does he even bother to attend a public meeting?
I have heard of this, they said the guy kept yapping and did not let Christie answer. Who knows. The video is too short to tell.
Greetings Yehuda:
Not impressed by many of Christie’s positions and most disappointed by his judicial appointment.
However, what I found so interesting is the student chose to ID himself as a SeAL, inlieu of Navy veteran for press purposes.
Cheers,
OLA
According to the article, from the Daily, the so-called veteran was didn’t want the universities merged.
Why he was really there, I don’t know.
I agree. It's very ‘Coulteresque’ and unbecoming of a governor, imo. At one time Christie was courted to be a presidential candidate. A prerequisite for that top job would be controlling your emotions I would think.
I cannot say the governor was wrong to call him such with details.

I saw the exchange on TV. Christie has killed any chance he might have ever had at winning a National Office. That clip will follow him for the rest of his life. To call a former Navy Seal an idiot because he questioned the merger of two State Universities; Fat Boy was totally out of line. I think the Guv. has some serious issues and possibly mental problems.
LOL!
That’s assuming the guy was really a Seal. He may not be, don’t know.
If a former military person is acting like an idiot, I don’t see the harm in calling him on it. Just because you wore a uniform at one point, shouldn’t keep you protected from the same discourse in life that everybody else faces.
Rutgers University has 3 locations and a good reputation. Christie is going to take the South Jersey campus and give or merge it with Rowan University. Rowan’s reputation is weak. It appears this is a deal to let powerful South Jersey dems have their own large university to play with.
This move is unpopular state wide and esp in South Jersey.
Christie seems to think that telling people off is the best way to deal with town halls. I cannot understand why Christie decided to dump this Rutgers thing w/o warning. It’s political dealmaking.
And they all served in ‘nam, if they are over 50 or in Iraq, if they’re under 50.
Greetings Kakaze:
From my view of the world, SgtMaj Daniel J. Daly, USMC is a former Marine; Priv Lee Harvey Oswald, USMC is ex-Marine.
Cheers,
OLA
It must be you, cause I'm sure not any type of SeAL. ;^)
I am former Navy, but you couldn't pay me enough to do some of the things they go through.
I try to keep tabs on whether or not christie is losing any weight, because I figure if he is doing any serious behind-the-scenes stuff with romney on that, he would be on a diet by now. So far, it looks like he’s not...
Btw, although Christie reduced budgets and borrowing short term, he is planning on massive borrowing via bonds in the out years. It has been pointed out he is going to put off paying the piper just as his predecessors did.
I doubt this guy was a Seal. Seals respect other people.
They don’t have to prove anything to anybody.
I am starting to miss Jon Corzine, with this prick. Bad enough he COMPLAINED to Eric Holder about the NYPD’s surveilance of Muslim student groups in NJ. He is a despicable stooge for Sharia.
Watch what you say...Christie may be your next VP for Romney...with Coulter as Press Secretary. This is what we are up against folks.
Christie better watch his step...he may have to take orders from Romney, and be his guard dog.

I gather the Seal kept interrupting, however Christie’s comment about what will happen if he acts like that in a courtroom was absurd. He was not in a courtroom and Christie is not a judge holding court.
Greetings Just another Joe:
You couldn’t pay me enough to go through SeAL “Hell Week.” However, who else puts signs on the beach pointing Marines which way towards the machine gun bunker they need to take out?
Cheers,
OLA
The guy in the original report seemed to be harping over and over again that his degree wouldn’t have Rutgers on it. Well, duh.
Seemed a bit over the top for such a minor thing.
Usually military guys have self discipline, and a guy who has seen combat doesn’t usually get his knickers in a knot over such a petty issue. Is he really a “SEAL”?
I agree.
That wasn’t relevant to the situation.
Christie rocks as Governor. Never thought I would get to say that about a Joisey Governor. He wouldn’t be my first choice for POTUS, but he would be my first choice for NJGOV-hands down. I saw the same thing first hand while working in NYC when Rudy was mayor-great mayor although not right for POTUS
Keep in mind that if a New York City police officer is conducting surveillance in New Jersey and he obtains evidence that might later be used against a terrorist, the evidence would likely be thrown out of court ... which again begs the question of what exactly they were doing in New Jersey in the first place.
Greetings sickoflibs:
Care to educate me exactly what I did wrong? Much known about posting, but probably much still to learn. It’s on Diane Sawyer’s Nightly News report.
Cheers,
OLA
It wasn’t a courtroom and Christie isn’t a judge. The comment was simply a way to distract attention from the issue.
IF....
Reminded me of Barbara Boxer demanding to be addressed as Senator Boxer. Not a similar situation by any means, just saying that's what came to mind. In the heat of the moment i can understand him saying that, but i bet he wishes he would have put it differently.
Start here for some minimum basics :#33
Yes, if.
Given the prevalence of SEALs in "romance" novels, maybe, he was trying to enhance his credentials with the babes. Apparently, it is not just stamina for physical exertion they are known for. Sandra Fluck may be out there watching.
Christie sounded like Barney Frank there.
Chris Christie is the same old permanent politica class, RINO, sold out politician. He has a tactic called “I’m gonna be a straight talker,” but it’s only a show.
The latest thing with Christie is phony conservative talk radio hosts are pushing him for the VP slot on a Romney ticket.
