U.S. officials have briefed President Obama about an alleged shooting of civilians by a U.S. service member in Afghanistan as worries grow the incident could trigger more violence and fuel a push to abandon the war-worn country.
"We are deeply concerned by the initial reports of this incident, and are monitoring the situation closely," White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Sunday, after one service member was detained by his unit following an alleged shooting of as many as 16 Afghan civilians in two neighboring villages.
According to a government representative for southern Afghanistan and a member of the delegation that went to investigate the incident, a U.S. service member stationed at a U.S. base in the southern Kandahar province walked off the base around 3 a.m. local time and walked into three homes and started shooting. He then returned to his base where he was arrested.
NATO officials apologized for the shootings but did not confirm that anyone was killed, referring instead to reports of deaths.
"I wish to convey my profound regrets and dismay at the actions apparently taken by one coalition member in Kandahar province, said a statement from Lt. Gen. Adrian Bradshaw, the deputy commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
If all of Afghanistan can be tipped on its head by burning a Koran or a random shooting, then it simply shows there was absolutely no hope of stability (ie. nation building) in the first place.
Let the riots continue.....
(Americans died for the sake of this hellhole.)
So their caliph-n-chief makes the apology BEFORE he finds out what actually happened. Pathetic jacka$$!! Of course in his eyes they are already guilty.
It could have been the taliban dressed as Americans or even in the rags they wear. These people wouldn’t tell the truth for all the money in the world, but the scum in the WH believes them. POS!!
(Reuters) - Western forces shot dead 16 civilians including nine children in southern Kandahar province on Sunday, Afghan officials said, in a rampage that witnesses said was carried out by American soldiers who were laughing and appeared drunk. One Afghan father who said his children were killed in the shooting spree accused soldiers of later burning the bodies. Witnesses told Reuters they saw a group of U.S. soldiers arrive at their village in Kandahar's Panjwayi district at around 2 am, enter homes and open fire. The incident, one of the worst of its kind since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, is likely to deepen the divide between Washington and Kabul.(excerpt)
Why draw hysteria on this event, with intial reports focusing on one soldier, then sowing confusion with updates involving more soldiers,. . . yet, no hysteria regarding:
or any of the thousands of muslim-on-muslim murders in that region?
Those people kill our troops and all the idiot in the WH does is apologize. He is worthless!! Where are OUR apologies from these sandnazis? Not one.
I wouldn’t blame our troops if they went insane and leveled a town.
GET OUT NOW—That miserable Hellhole is Satan’s backyard. It is populated with stupid violent people guided by a Stone Age stupid religion. The evil that permeates the entire country is an infection that can makes our good soldiers into demons. This guy was likely a loose cannon but it’s in a whole country of homicidal maniacal citizens. It made him seem normal. If the Taliban launch another attack from camps from there then we must do what we should have done after 9-11. Turn that waste of space and oxygen into a smoking sheet of radioactive glass and call it a day.
witnesses said was carried out by American soldiers who were laughing and appeared drunk. /
That remark alone makes this entire thing not suspect, but a giant lie.
Probably just self defense, you know how those murdering Afghans are.

No Blood for Opium.
I’m so sorry........ he ran out of ammo...
The story keeps evolving. I wouldn’t believe a word out of these lying muzzie bustards mouths!
Dear God, protect my nephew as he heads to his second tour in that God forsaken pit.
This thing has “Reichstag Fire” written all over it.
This speck of dirt and rock should have been turned to glass on day one. Our demoncrat led government has murdered our sons and daughters by the ROE they set in place. I hope hell has a special place for them.
I am extremely suspicious of this story. Isn’t the base maned by guards at a front gate? Who lets a soldier out at 3am with a rifle just to walk of base? Now it is soldiers? Who burns people with chemicals? These chemicals on base?
Does anyone know what really happened? I heard this morning that it was one soldier, now these “witnesses” say it was more than one soldier and they sounded drunk. Are there any American witnesses to this incident? What’s next-a drunken raid on the town by a whole company?
I should add chemicals is what I took from the article. Yet it wasn’t in article. WHO BURNS BODY’S AFTER THEY ARE DEAD? Muslims.
We just p1ss on them!.../s
Here is where I read the chemical bit....
Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me if one of our guys had been watching all the killings after the mobs were called out because of the Koran burning, and just snapped, because he perceived the futility of his being there.
“Dear God, protect my nephew as he heads to his second tour in that God forsaken pit.”
In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen!
I don’t know how he can be sorryer than he was over the Koran burning. On the other hand, they might not get as mad about us killing people as they did about the Korans.
NO .. REALLY?
This administration .. I am speechless ..
