The ban on ‘silencers’ is only part of the problem. I’d add automatic weapons to the list as well. Heck just do away with about 90% of the laws and it would be a good start.

Once again, an article on FreeRepublic about suppressors brings out the highest ignorance/reason ratio of any topic. There should be a rule that anyone posting to these threads must disclose if they have never owned or used a suppressor.

I’ll address the supersonic crack issue and say that a shooter worry much about the supersonic crack is like someone on a dock from which a speed boat just launched worrying about the dock being swamped by the wake.

Incidentally, when shooting more than a few rounds, and other than 22LR, I use hearing protection when shooting suppressed, just like when working with air tools, and for the same reason. Comfort and to avoid hearing loss.
