Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday dismissed calls for a pro-President Barack Obama super PAC to return comedian Bill Maher’s $1 million donation following accusations of sexism over comments he’s made about 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and other women.
The issue has received particular attention in the wake of a video from a pro-conservative women group calling out the “double standard” in the way Maher and Rush Limbaugh’s “slut” comment have been treated.
Asked on ABC’s “This Week” whether Maher’s money should be returned, Schumer said no.
“The bottom line is that Rush Limbaugh’s comments were just nasty and directed at a particular young woman who had a particular point of view and was expressing herself,” Schumer said. “Bill Maher’s a comedian, it’s much different. Rush Limbaugh has tremendous weight in the Republican Party, no one will rebut him.”
“Bill Maher‘s a comedian who’s on at 11 o‘clock at night but has very little influence on what’s happening here,” he added.
A Schumer spokesman later told Politico he “thinks those comments [made by Maher] are inappropriate and wrong.”

Another think that always bugged me about Schumer, whenever he flashes that sh*t-eating grin of his, is it me, our does he bear an creepy, uncanny resemblance to Lee Harvey Oswald, just before Jack Ruby blew him away?
I’m actually hoping the Dems keep the money. If things keep going downhill for Mahar, HBO, he could have used the money to support himself.
Some liberals I know of revere Bill Maher. They consider his movie “Religiolous” (sp?), which denigrates religion, to be a very thoughtful incisive movie.
Trying to say, he may be an inane comedic personality, but some people take him seriously.
Comedians make us laugh. Chucky and Billy make me puke.
I would say that Bill Maher is funny, but looks do not count!

Most liberals get their news from Jon Stewart and their talking points from Bill Maher. To say that liberal comedians don’t have influence is ridiculous. Sure, they don’t have a fraction of the influence of Rush, but it’s not Rush’s fault that they are so incompetent.
Since when is Mahar a comedian?
Exactly! And let’s not forget how Carville went after Paula Jones making the snide remarks about trolling money through a trailer park, and how the Dems were all set to portray Lewinski as a crazed stalker. Feminists and liberals all turned a blind eye to all that.
