Game On! Sarah Palin Takes Obama to Woodshed Over His Shameless Attack Ad
Gateway Pundit ^ | March 13, 2012 | Jim Hoft

Big mistake. Sarah Palin just knocked that underhanded pitch over the fence. From her Facebook account:

The far Left continues to believe American voters are not smart enough to grasp the diversionary tactics it employs to distract us from the issues our President just doesn’t want to talk about – issues that affect us all every day and must be addressed.

Exhibit A in these diversionary tactics is an absurd new attack ad President Obama has released taking my comments out of context. I’m not running for any office, but I’m more than happy to accept the dubious honor of being Barack Obama’s “enemy of the week” if that includes the opportunity to debate him on the issues Americans are actually concerned about. (Remember when I said you don’t need a title to make a difference?)

Just off the top of my head, a few of these concerning issues include: a debt crisis that has us hurtling towards a Greek-style collapse, entitlement programs going bankrupt, a credit downgrade for the first time in our history, a government takeover of the health care industry that makes care more expensive and puts a rationing panel of faceless bureaucrats between you and your doctor (aka a “death panel”), $4 and $5 gas at the pump exacerbated by an anti-drilling agenda that rejects good paying energy sector jobs and makes us more dependent on dangerous foreign regimes, a war in Afghanistan that seems unfocused and unending, a global presidential apology tour that’s made us look feeble and ridiculous, a housing market in the tank, the longest streak of high unemployment since World War II, private-sector job creators and industry strangled by burdensome regulations and an out-of-control Obama EPA,

So now you are a practicing doctor, too?

Comments from SP and responses from people like you and from the Left showed us clearly why she is not running for the presidential office, but can still be relevant.

A lot of interesting things are being said here, but I think a key part of the Democratic Party motive for attacking Palin is being missed.

Liberals practice the philosophy that he who defines, wins. They're not necessarily wrong on that.

In the current political environment where Republicans don't have a unified leader who most of us stand behind, the Democrats think they can marginalize and ridicule Republicans by treating people like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin as leaders of the conservative movement.

In other words, if they think a moderate like Romney is going to be the nominee, they elevate people they perceive as radical extremists into the national spotlight.

Conservatives work in a world where we support or oppose people based on their policies. What we often don't grasp is that the attacks on Palin and Limbaugh gain their credibility not so much from what Palin and Limbaugh believe but from what they represent, or more to the point, what they don't represent.

There was a day when liberals reveled in their blue-collar origins as “proletarians,” and if they didn't have that type of pedigree they tried to create one by taking blue collar jobs after graduate school. Modern liberalism works in a world where being “tolerant,” living in the affluent suburbs or gentrified downtowns, and being from an upper-middle-class well-educated family are all important parts of being a credible spokesman for virtually any position not only in politics but also in business, academia, or community affairs. Granted, while someone can be from a poor background (i.e., Clinton or Obama), elite Ivy-League education solves that “problem” and gives the added advantage of being able to be a “man of the people” to one audience while being a cultured and well-mannered “insider” with the powerbrokers who count.

I've read Sarah Palin’s autobiography, including her emphasis on love of reading as a child. I think she's a smart woman and the attacks on her lack of elite education and her choice to take extra time to finish her degree by working rather than going deeply into debt to pay for school, say a great deal more about the snobbery of the liberals than about any actual intellectual defects on Palin’s part.

Part of why Newt Gingrich is effective is because even the liberals can't deny that he's a brilliant man and does have advanced academic degrees, even though they're not from the Ivy League. Mitt Romney has both law and business degrees from Harvard; he can't be attacked for being poorly educated. While Rick Santorum has both law and business degrees from lower-level institutions, so far the liberals haven't claimed he's under-educated, just that he's wrong; my guess is that's partly because his father was a psychologist with a doctoral degree and with two graduate degrees it's hart to argue Santorum is stupid.

Sarah Palin simply doesn't have that level of educational achievement. I'm not criticizing her for that, and personally I don't care, but liberals **DO** care, and they think they can portray Palin as a caricature “caribou barbie doll” to discredit Republicans as extremist and uneducated backwoods imbeciles.

Remember, President Obama’s campaign advertisements generally are not aimed at us. They're aimed at swing voters who might be persuaded to vote either way. In their mind, painting the Republican Party as captives to a Sarah Palin ideology of intolerant uneducated extremism is a way to discredit Romney's moderate views.

I think the Democrats have seriously misunderstood Middle America, but if we're going to nominate Romney, we need to recognize that the Democrats won't accept that Romney is a moderate but rather will try to paint him as a flip-flopper who personally believes nothing and has moved far to the right to placate a radicalized Republican Party filled with Palins and Limbaughs.

The sad thing is that tactic by Democrats — painting Republicans as conservative extremists — may actually be more effective at getting votes for Republicans than the foolish mistakes being made by Republican elitists who seem to think they need to act “moderate” to get elected.

It is sad that the status conscious ,degree elitist liberal Democrats are unable to look at the sound thoughts and powerful words of Sarah Palin.
One of the good things of life today is getting up in the morning, having a cup of coffee and logging in to FR to read another Sarah Palin post sticking it to the Liberal Democrats and giving hope to the rest of America.

Interesting: even as a non-candidate, Palin is still functionally "Shadow President" and the Obamaites realize it.

(For those who don't get the reference, in Britain, the opposition party has a "shadow cabinet", with MP's who have particular responsibility for policy issues corresponding to a cabinet post, who are sometimes referred to as "Shadow Minster of [name of department]" even though they have no real title.)

From an ex Texas resident who believes Texas is the best state baring none!! Have you seen UNDEFEATED?? It has been on HBO the last couple of nights, and is the REAL Sarah Palin and how she put her beautiful state of Alaska back on track. It shows what this outstanding woman is all about and has some terrific landscape pictures of our beautiful Alaska. I believe that is what the liberal, socialistic, marxist Democrat Party running with UNION money, is afraid of. The country believes he MSM and their hate campaign pointed right at the current resident of the White House.

You don't seem to get it. The left will jump all over this reply. And when they do readers will inevitably go to the original to "get more dirt" simply because people are curious, especially Americans.
And when they do go for more dirt they're going to hear something that resonates instead and it'll nestle in theirs minds despite their best attempts to not allow that to happen.

Well played by Palin. Spiked it right over the net.

Prayers of thanksgiving that WE ARE NOT THEM.

It broils down to Libs and our young had been conditioned to ‘group think’.

In other words, they don’t think on their own, they look to ‘accepted words of wisdom from acceptable sources’, thus the heavy emphasis on credentials.

Instead of analysis on issues as stated by Palin, Libs had to daily emphasize she’s too dumb (or something else). And if past fact does not fit the narrative, they have to fabricate a fantasy one to fit the mold.

Sarah lost all credibility a long time ago. Time to move on.

She is going through the same arc Reagan did. He was rejected and called stupid, etc on his first try for the top office. Eventually, people got around to hearing his message.

Same with Churchill. Got the Brits through a living nightmare; then they dumped him and finally brought him back for their next living nightmare.

Totally agree with your post 50. I'd rather she wait until the momentum has built. Loved the positive Palin movie "The Undefeated" on Sunday -- very powerful.

"The Undefeated" Palin bioflick will be running again on Sunday, March 25 on Reelz cable channel -- 5:30 PM Eastern, 2:30 PM Pacific.

And their definitions are horribly flawed but they rub it all with the grain of popular culture. Anything running cross grain is hateful, greedy and/or stupid.

"I felt somewhat more safe back in '10 when the tea party movement descended upon Washington and other cities with a show of peaceful resolve to take back the country. However, the TPM seems to have evaporated into thin air, at least the "visible" arm of it."

The "visible" was just to let them know we are here and now awake. It's the "invisible" they are concerned about...hence the attack ad on a private citizen by "POTUS".

Bill Clinton had 12 years of executive experience before he set foot in the Oval Office. Hillary was right by his side for those 12 years and 8 more in the WH. That’s what makes her so dangerous. She had 20 years to learn the ropes of an executive office and to develop networks of minions.

The president is making attack ads about Sarah Palin and Mittens is closing in on the RNC nomination. I don't think the word irrelevant means what you think it means.
