Rick Santorum today responded to comedian Bill Maher’s attack on Santorum’s decision to homeschool his children.
Santorum, a devout Catholic, said on Fox News that “folks on the left” are out there “trashing anybody who stands up for Christian conservative values, anybody who dares to actually teach their children faith in their home.” …
“All of a sudden, if you’re instilling faith and teaching them about God in your home, you’re a Madrassa, according to these folks, as if reason doesn’t take place in these homes,” Santorum said.
The candidate then argued his son, one of seven children, could take on Maher.
“Our children will out-reason him. My 12 year-old will out-reason Bill Maher when it comes to understanding how logic works, ’cause (Maher) is completely illogical,” Santorum said.
How I’d love to see a middle-schooler debate Bill Maher! At the same time, Santorum’s mention of his 12-year-old son reminds me: How is it Maher got away with attacking Santorum’s parenting? Aren’t presidential children — or potential presidential children — and everything that concerns them usually off-limits? Michelle O’s primary goal as First Lady seems to be to protect Malia and Sasha from the press — and I can’t blame her. Chelsea Clinton was so sheltered and secluded as the First Kid that she might have been imaginary but for photographic evidence.
While I can’t blame Santorum for responding — and I’m grateful he did — I hope his response doesn’t embolden or empower Maher or anyone else to think that the decisions candidates make concerning their children are especially relevant to a campaign or election. Except as a piece of the overall character puzzle, it’s hard for me to see why they would be (unless they’re illegal). Most parents — including politicians — are just doing what they think is best for their children, and, again, unless they’re doing something illegal or are completely negligent, deserve to be given that consideration.

Well Mr. Maher, homeschooling is the reason Rick Santorum’s kids have not been corrupted by public indoctrination centers.
Maher looks like a human rat - the slicked-back hair, protruding nose, beady little eyes.
When Santorum says “My 12 year-old will out-reason Bill Maher when it comes to understanding how logic works, ’cause (Maher) is completely illogical,”, is Santorum referring to the fact that for there to be any equivalence between a Madrassah and where Santorum schools his kids, Santorum would have to be sending his kids to parochial school?
Is Mahaer so stupid he doesn’t see that his analogy comparing home schooling with a Madrassah does not hold on any logical basis?

He is so ignorant (and I mean that in the classic sense of the word). Maher - “It’s no coincidence that the type of tree which God forbade Adam and Eve eating from was the tree of knowledge. Rick Santorum home-schools his children because he does not want them eating that (audio bleep) apple,” Maher said. “He wants them locked up in the Christian madrassa that is the family living room, not out in public where they could be infected by the virus of reason.” — The tree was the tree of the knowledge ... of good and evil. Not the tree of reason. The Reason for everything (Logos) helped in the creation of the world and was instrumental in its redemption. (John 1:1.) I’m sure Adam and Eve were basking in the joy of being able to reason before they ate the fruit.

I home schooled my daughter, worked, went on trips, and pretty much did whatever I wanted to do and she graduated at 16. We would visit Florida and study the history and culture of Florida. We visited the Alamo and San Jacinto Battleground while studying Texas history. She studied at night and on weekends when necessary, but still finished before her public school peers. Her level of knowledge was better than theirs and her social skills were also superior. She could make friends with someone 3 years her junior or 3 years her senior and not feel like she caught cooties as her public school friends attacked someone one grade back from them or accosted by the person 1 year older.
She also saw the evolutionary "evidence", but was also exposed to the problems that evolution can't answer. Public school students are taught to belittle anyone that ask questions about evolution and hold their ears and scream "nah,nah,nah,nah,nah".
She has now graduated college with a poly sci major and a psych minor and has gone on to her career. Corporations actually are SEEKING home schooled students these days. Most home schoolers learn the Bible and the eternal Truths taught there while even a Christian public school student isn't even allowed to open the Bible in school. The reason schools were invented was to teach children to read the Bible. The first public schools were in the local church.
If a student is to learn reason and knowledge, where better than from his Creator? Why would a Christian send their child into a place that hates God? This stuff about a Christian child shining their light in schools is bunk. They will succumb to the evil instead of converting the masses to good. They are children and are in the learning phase. How much attention would you pay to your parents and clergy if the school teaches you they are morons?
I would be happy to allow my child to go to public schools if they weren't so hostile to real knowledge and God. Public school children have more condoms on banana's, more global warming, more socialism, and just more hedonistic behavior than pure learning. That's why it takes 12 years to teach them to an 8th grade reading level.
Even if Santorum skipped 6 months of the year of teaching, his children would learn more real knowledge than the brutal, druggie, fornicating, morons in the local public school.
In Mr. Jefferson's University, two of many works which were to be used in the University of Virginia's Law School were, 1) Blackstone's Commentaries, and 2) THE FEDERALIST.
Sir William Blackstone, whose writings trained American's lawyers for its first century of Amarica's history, capsulized such reasoning:
"For as God, when he created matter, and endued it with a principle of mobility, established certain rules for the...direction of that motion; so, when he created man, and endued him with freewill to conduct himself in all parts of life, he laid down certain immutable laws of human nature, whereby that freewill is in some degree regulated and restrained, and gave him also the faculty of reason to discover the purport of those laws." If Rick and Karen Santorum are teaching their children the ideas underlying their nation's Declaration of Independence and Constitution, then those children are likely, in their religious teachings, and in the study of the Founders of their constitutional government, learning how to use their gift of reason from an early age.
Just think of the contributions of Jefferson and the other brave individuals who used their "gift" to bring light and liberty to a dark and oppressed world in the 18th Century.
Forget the 12 year old. A piece of dung could out reason Maher.

When a secularist uses the word “reason”,
they mean “atheism”. Nothing else.
Not that he's going to get their vote anyway, but there are lots of lefties homeschooling their kids as well because of their own concerns about the failures of the government school system.
